Why did Mayweather initiate so many clinches against Maidana?

AND... in the Bradley fight, how many times did Manny push Timmy's head down? I lost count. (Of course, Timmy is a notorious butter, so it was probably the right thing to do. But still ........)

Did you have the same attitude for Wlad/Povetkin? I hope so.

Floyd took that a page out of Ali's book. You can't get hit when you hug.

Because he doesn't box well when facing constant pressure.

Why? Because it was a tactical maneuver that was necessary. It worked and it allowed Floyd to find success in a fight that Marcos was dictating with his relentless pressure.

Khan had 72 clinches and 100 hold the head downs.

Even if you say Floyd clinched 72 times, that's not a lot. But if Floyd held so much then how did Maidana win?

To avoid getting shoved onto the ring apron.

Who does? Even Ali and both Sugars had hard times wih pressure fighters. What makes Floyd different? Not that he had a hard time, just sayin...

    Two possibilities...

1...He loves macho Men and just wanted to touch Chino.

2...To stop Chino throwing numerous bombs at his ribs and head.

Now you country boys call Ali to the table is it? Ali didn't hug, he took all those punches from the mummy Foreman and since there was nowhere to go either for the guy who had the forward momentum or the guy doing the rope-a-dope, he locked Foreman from steamrolling him outside the ropes in Zaire. But many, many crafty men have done it, Joe Louis was always locking them inside before set em up to the lethal combination that would stop the fight. Floyd simply clinches whenever he needs cause he knows how to and unlike Maidana who doesn't know how to clinch. Another two guys who promoted the clinch and took the better of it and like Mayweather were no way diminuished at the eyes of the judges for having done so were Ricky Hatton and is still Bernard Hopkins. Wlad and Povetkin I have to agree went on to the limit and beyond.

Except he does. "Constant pressure" has tried and failed before, and is hardly the sum of what Maidana did. Unconventional punching angles forming traps, that is the key with Maidana's attacks in both the Broner & Mayweather fights, and nobody seems to grasp that. None of it has been straightforward traditional pressure fighting.

    No, it didn't. :yep

Size, youth, strength, game plan - Maidana brought a lot more in sum than other supposed pressure masters that fell short.
