did they think that they could knock out guys by using the bad smell from there feet? (joke)

did they believe that socks made them slow down slightly?

Tyson did it as a homage to Dempsey, I think.

Tyson stopped doing it after he broke a toe-nail in a fight.

    I forget who against.

No idea what the answer to the question is.

Tyson said he felt like a gladiator without socks, I think. McGrain I think Tyson hurt his toe nail against Tucker, and wore short socks after that to keep his image.

On a side note, at a wrestling tournament I decided to wear no socks to feel what it was like. Big mistake, you could smell my shoes 20 feet away by the end of the tournament and never did it again:rofl

Old timers took the stance of fighting being very spartan and because of the nature of boxing being a lower class sport, socks were probably deemed a luxury and it was survival of the fittest that got you the edge .. Low maintenance and extreme desire to win at all costs was the main objective. Tyson like said earlier loved Jack Dempsey , his hard hitting no frills style, shaven back and sides of the hair.. basic trunks... no socks.. and low cut leather shoes.. Mike was an 80's / 90's Dempsey..
