Why did mitch halpern commit suicide?

Richard Green was also the referee in the Larry Holmes vs Muhammad Ali 1980 title fight where Ali got a sustained beating but was allowed to continue until Angelo Dundee called a halt after the 10th round. The Mancini vs Kim fight in contrast was an exciting evenly contested give and take fight (like most of Mancini’s fights were) until the last few rounds where Mancini was clearly wearing Kim down. I don’t think any blame could have been attached to Green for what happened after the 14th round stoppage but we will never know if it did contribute to Green’s eventual sucide the following year or not but it may have been entirely coincidental.
