Why did Morales and Barrera dislike each other

It started after their first fight. Talking trash and promoting the fight ended with bitter feelings. After the first fight was called for Morales, Barrera went on saying that the "HBO" fighter is not that good. Barrera also threw a punch at Morales during a pre fight conference. (I cant remember what fight it was, but i think it was before the second match). After that they had nothing good to say about each other. There is also a small rivalry between Mexican Fighters from the north and Mexican fighters from the South.

 

I actually heard a different story to the start of their feud

Both are top pro atheletes who got alot of free time in between training

And they both played for amateur football teams in a amateur league

and they played against each other and obvioulsy knew who each other was and that one day they would probaly meet - and a few rough tackles went in on each other and scuffling on the field and that set up a personal rivarly that set up bad blood for when they met as professional boxers

 

I thought it was because Morales was working class from Tijuana and Barrera was wealthy middle class from the city- class resentment.

 

Never heard of it. Quite interesting.

I highly doubt this

Id love to see those pics because too much has happened both physically & verbally between these 2 guys, I cant see them ever making up until they are both OAPs.... & even then Im not sure.


Ps. Flint Island & Shadow Box are both right, those things are more than rumoured to have happened.

I also heard that when MAB was a young world champ, he sparred with an even younger Morales who was coming thru the ranks & EM either floored or winded MAB with a body punch (likely winded) & MAB turned up the heat & EM held his own until it was stopped, I believe this was before the football match.

As I say, Ive heard this story once or twice... not sure how truthfull it is but just thought Id share it anyway.

That was my understanding too. Morales from Tijuana and Barrera from the DF......

 

Damn Erik is like 180 right now!!!!!!!!!

 

He's probably 165 ... he's wasn't that big to begin with ... he fought at 130 .... 30 extra pounds would make him look like that.
