Great technical fighter with short punches against a wild, undisciplined fighter with looping, long punches. Predictable result.

Hamed always would be dangerous, but he was fortunate he could make a fortune without getting tested. He'd have been exposed much sooner. As others have said, the naughty schoolboy getting rammed into the turnbuckle is an epic moment in boxing history. Also, RIP HBO.

Any version of Barrera beats any version of Naz BUT Hamed clearly had lost his passion for boxing, was already a multi, multi millionaire and by the time of the Barrera fight had surrounded himself with the wrong people (unknown head coach and his clueless brothers managing him - Naz training in Bing Crosby's old holiday home while Barrera was up in Big Bear).

That fight was the purest display of how overrated british fighters usually are. That fight was not close at all.

There was talk of him retiring over a backlash from certain parts of the British public after 9/11 he got some grief for being a devout Muslim apparently

Could be truth, could be bollix

MAB was just too skilled and willed to lose to Hamed. Dude had the eye of the tiger going in to the ring! Doesn't hurt to have that mean streak to go along with those skills.

He lost before 9/11. I think that may have definitely shortened his career however

Wasn't a wonderful time for one to be a very publicly devout adherent of Islam who incidentally had spent years taunting audiences in building up a blockbuster heel character...

One actually has to wonder, if Amir Khan had come along but a few years earlier than he did, if he wouldn't have faced a much harder road. By his actual pro debut in 2005, much of that wave of knee-jerk bigotry (as in the mainstream populace, outside the fringes) had died off...

I definitely think it would've affected him adversely as well. Especially with his roots being in Pakistan. He benefited greatly by just coming into his own and being a few years younger. As for Hamed, his arrogance in and out of the ring kind of sealed his fate, sympathetic muslims were ridiculed during that time, arrogant ones................well you know......

I think Hamed seemed to peak at a very young age. I think he would have beaten Barrera if they had of fought when I felt Hamed was at his best but I think he was past his best at the young age of 26 and it was enough for a great fighter like Barrera to get a win. I dont think changing trainers seemed to work as well for him but only my opinion

I dont think Morrales had any interest in facing Hamed at all. When Hamed was mentioned he didnt seem to show interest from what I read at the time

Some of the petty excuses his fans make are serious LOL moments.

There's levels. Barrera dominated him from start to finish. It was a mismatch. A very one sided fight. They could have faced each other 100 times and Barrera would have won 100 times.

Hamed retired at a young age because he knew from that moment he stepped up he could never ever compete with the elite.

Barrera was/is simply too good. All those excuses made after or before the fight mean nothing and would’ve changed nothing if a rematch happened.

Lost before.. Retired after. His fight in London against Calvo he got a poor reception from memory.
