He had the height to have done so. I can imagine him holding titles from his own Junior Lightweight to Welterweight. He held the Featherweight title for years, but I would have thought that he could have done with an extra challenge or two.

My father told me an interesting story concerning Pedroza when he fought McGuigan. My father had travelled to London for the fight with planeloads of others and on the morning of the weigh-in crowds of them flocked down to see it. He said there was literally hundreds of them outside the place when Pedroza pulled up. He said Pedroza got out, seen the crowd (ALL McGuigan men) singing and cheering and ****, and he stood his ground, and with his forefinger he pointed at his chest a few times before showing it to the rest of the crowd indicating a number, "Me, number 1" in broken english. My da said it wasnt like he was bragging, trash talking, whatever you want to call it, it was just him being him. A tough, proud, confident man.

:D What I meant was,Pedroza could have held the featherweight title until 1980-81,then moved up. He'd have had a lot more lucrative bouts.

Pedroza was a fine champion...Barry was lucky to have caught him on the downside of his reign..to be fair.

Eusubio started out as a Bantamweight, and could also carry 122 lbs.
    (Super Bantamweight) quite well.

Eusubio versus Bobby Chacon,,,,,,,,,that would have been one good fight at 128 lbs.

How about Pedroza in a Lightweight bout with Jim Watt,Alexis Arguello or Sean O'Grady circa 1981 ? I'd favour him against Watt and O'Grady. Against Arguello,I'd say 50/50. Have to think about it a little more.

He wouldn't get the same leverage on low blows as he could with shorter guys.

IMO not 50/50 more like 70/30 . Arguello might have trouble early but would ko him late.

I don't think we should jump so quick, to make it easy for Eusbio Pedroza to move up in weight, and perform well.

It took him 12 rounds to stop 'OLD' Rubin Olivares. And thats with him pounding
    on Rubin every single round.

I agree with you,Cobra. Barry was a fine fighter, but Pedroza in his prime, was a notch above.

Thought it over. In a Pedroza/Arguello fight at 133 lbs,I'd give it to Eusebio. Very close, about 51/49.

Pedroza was a great fighter but a career featherweight. In addition, he wasn't a particularly powerful puncher and the vast majority of his fights went to decisions. I could see him moving to 130 and beating someone like a Sammy Serrano or a Bazooka Limon. But I don't see a jump to 135 being successful for him. Arguello would stop him. Pedroza would be outgunned and would not be able to roughhouse the bigger man. He also wouldn't have the great movement he would need against Arguello as he would be 10 lbs over his best weight. I wouldn't pick him to beat Watt either.
