Why did pac struggle terribly with marquez in fight 2?

hmm... how about marquez also struggling with pac? ah... i guess pac doesn't struggle that much when he fights other opponents since he usually dominates them.

for me, it's option 1 with a little bit of 4, specifically trying to make weight @130 when he already had a fighting weight of 145+ during that time. not to forget that jmm is also a great fighter and P4P Elite like pac.

Watch the fight. JMM easily won both fights.

 Yeah, he definitely lands a lot of those no look punches, and they're often lethal!

I think Roger Mayweather criticized that in one of his interviews. Still, it gets the job done, lol.

Perhaps if you take the rest of the fight video, outside of the knockdown/s (which is all you seem to care about), you'll find evidence?

Easily? How the hell was that easily? I thought JMM won it (and I'm a Pac fan) but there is no way that he won "easily". Most who had JMM winning had it at 114-113, coupled with the 3rd round KD, there's nothing easy about it.

I hate it when people say this, or that JMM schooled PAc in the rematch. That's just hating. For the 1st fight, a case can be made that JMM schooled Pac from the 3rd round onwards, but in the rematch, that was hard fought and very very close fight that could have gone either way.

    . . . because Marquez is a sound tactical fighter . . . a great counter puncher.

. . . and he's gonna have problem with Maywether too. PBF will avoid exchanges and will try to win rounds. . . on scorecards.

I think that Pac had already measured the opponent's distance prior to unloading and registers it in his mind so that when the opponent thinks that Pac ain't looking or within some safe angle away, the lightning quick sometimes awkward punch would be unloaded. This would often stun opponents as the punch that you don't see/expect would hurt most... Pac's (offense-based) ring intelligence is underrated.

Pac struggled because JMM is a great fighter but also, JMM struggled b'coz Pac is greater than him.

Now - how did I said that, It's simple b-coz JMM can't KD Pac where Pac does to him.

it's because of the style for sure. no excuses. pac will always have a hard time against jmm. that's just how it is. and thats why their matches are so damn good to watch.

Thanks. I just watched the fights again. Boy was I wrong. At first I thought they were close fights that could have went either way but after closer inspection you're right, what lopsided mismatches! 120-96 for Marquez both fights. He clearly dominated the first round of the first fight. Any novice could see that.

Kudos on the great post. You really should have your own show on ESPN!

We can't be sure about that. JMM hits harder and throws more punches than Mayweather does. If Pac could be able to absorb Floyd punches, then Floyd would be in great danger of getting KOd.

Styles! A guy like JMM would always give a guy like Pac hell.
