    they weren't ready-

I was watching the final episode of On Freddie Roach, and him and Pac made these claims that they were ready for counter punchers....

After the fight, they said it was that style that gave them problems...:patsch....:huh:think

Why does Team Pacquiao continuously lie about this? Pacquiao is the same fighter he always was...he struggled with JMM 3 times and was given a gift in the last fight...mean time Floyd beat THE SAME JMM 12-0.

Styles make fights...Pac would be counter punched all night by Floyd till he was dropped in the 8th.

Team Pacquiao was never ready-Pacquiao is the same fighter today he was when he fought JMM the 1st n 2nd time..the guy is just hype-he scared of Mayweather...

Nobody gettin a 50/50...not just Pac but nobody--guess Floyd duckin EVERYONE by ******* standards..cuz Sergio, Cotto, Mosley, Canelo, Pacquiao, etc...nobody gettin 50/50

Pac should shut his fukin mouth....if he not willing to take less than 50/50 he never shoulda said it..

Counter-punching is a label that doesn't serve as a blanket term for all counter-punching styles. The things JMM did to trouble Manny can be emulated, but what he did was unique to his own style and doesn't necessary translate across all counter-punchers.

Agreed! But it was the skill that made Pac look flawed... Floyd is much more SKILLED at the sport of boxing than Manny:deal:thumbsup

Agreed! *******s don't talk about Pacquiaos short ass jab-that is a key to beating Floyd and Pac don't have it.

Two things: obviously they thought they were ready, and they thought wrong. Also, what the **** were they supposed to say even if they knew they weren't ready?

"Dur... we don't have a clue how we're going to neutralize Marquez, guess we'll just go out and wing it."

Second thing: people have to realize that boxers talking about fighting is a whole game, and most guys that play the game of talking about their bouts much do it with the main purpose of projecting strength, confidence, and competence. Some don't play the game, some are too honest to know there is a game going on, and some try use it as a chance to psych out their opponent, but for most they're sticking to the standard script.

I mean ****, there are interview with early Tyson opponents talking about how they'd seen the tape and they hit harder than Tyson, they were more skilled, etc. Do you think Donnie ****ing Long really thought he hit harder than Tyson? **** no! But what else do you expect him to say?

As for your poll, I think there was a window of time from 2008-2010 where Pacquiao could legitimately get to Mayweather, now I think his only chance is outworking Mayweather on volume to get a decision. Mayweather has successfully waited out the period when Pac would b a genuine danger.

So what changed? Pac got old? He's younger than Mayweather! To say that there ever was a time that Pac could beat Floyd is to lie to yourself. Beating up come-forward, flat-footed, no-defense fighters doesn't tell me anything. Many have said that Pac is the same fighter and when he fought someone with a different style (again) it showed!

Yes, and as we all know, physical age is the only factor that effects where a fighter is in relation to their prime. So guys who are, say, offensive fighters have absolutely no reason to age more rapidly than defensive fighters who take nowhere near as many blows in return.

And if a guy fights 4 times a year and the other guy once, then there's no reason why the guy fighting more often would be more worn down if he's younger. Ditto for guys who spend all their time between bouts drinking and doing coke, that can't effect their ability, only their physical age can do that. Or guys who blow up in weight. Or guys who only fight part-time, while running a business or something.

That's also why we know for a fact that Shane Mosley is a more legitimate fighter than Bernard Hopkins at this point. After all, Shane is 6 years younger, and thus cannot possibly be more shot than Hopkins. It's physically impossible! He's younger!

I think he was much more dangerous to Mayweather a couple of years ago, although I wouldn't have made him the favorite. I think he's becoming less and less dangerous with the passage of time.

Should they have said: We can't fight counter punchers, they will dismantle us.

Not really any of the above put forth by the known *******s cotto(e) boyschoir etc etc...

The fact is MAYWEATHER AVERAGES 240 THOUSAND MORE BUYS-THIS IS BUSINESS-THEY ARE NOT GOING TO IGNORE THE FACT (KEYWORD *******S-FACT) THAT FLOYD DOES 240 THOUSAND MORE PPV BUYS PER FIGHT, since a common factor in Oscar De La Hoya.

Floyd is a once in a generation talent, so obviously beating lesser opponents does not mean you will beat Floyd.

But Pac has slowed down and lost both power and killer instict. I am not saying he would beat Floyd a few years ago. Prime Pac and prime Floyd are both so outstanding fighters with such special styles that it is hybris to believe you know how the fight would play out. I guess I would have Floyd as the favourite, but Pacs chances would have been a lot better for sure.

Are we supposed to listen to a poster who believes himself to prove a point by stipulating Pac is simillar to a nervous little school girl?
