There is a reason for catchweights. It's to make fights between 2 great fighters of different but adjacent weight classes. Was 145 necessary? Probably not. Was it unreasonable? No. Pac could have said to Cotto, "Want to make millions? Move down to Light Welterweight." All Pac asked was for Cotto to come in

    less from his previous fight.

Now that being said. Why did Morales (or his team) negotiate Pac wear different gloves? Has he done it before? If so why?

I have my theories. And it probably doesn't involve Morales or his team.

Pac has never been tested as 147 lbs full time boxer. that's why they asked cotto for a catched weight.

because he was moving up from JrWW. Pac fought Hatton just a couple of months before Cotto and only weighed in at 138. Cotto fought Clottey a couple of months before and weighed in at 146.

So 145 was an effort to try to level the playing field a little, even though it was alot closer to Cotto's weight than Pac's

Because he's a circus, sideshow, ladyboy coward. End. of. Thread.

Manny Pacquiao hasn't been a fight that meant anything since leaving 130. Pac also can't be discussed or compared seriously to any fighter above 130 for all the obvious reasons.

Nothing from your post proves Cotto wasn't weight drain. Too me i thought he look like he was weight drain. His body look skinny in the weigh in.

Simple question lance if 1 pound is nothing then why fight at 145 pound catchweight? Why not fight at 147 pound like Pacquiao did with De la hoya???? Please give me an answer correctly ok?

None of this means a ****ing thing:lol:

In 20 years when all the bull**** hype wears off it will be universally understood that Manny didn't do much of **** above 130.

I guess there will still be Pac fans so to them he will be the GOAT. But to boxing fans he aint **** now and won't be nothing but a great fighter at 130. Everything above that weight will be marked with an asterick becuase they were all catchweight, starved opponents not fought at the division limit...Not to mention leftovers of the better boxer at the time Floyd Mayweather.

How is an even playing field? Pacquiao fought Oscar at the ww limit and destroyed him like nothing. So again why fight Cotto at a bs catchweight? Oh wait i know cause Pac and Roach doesn't want Cotto who isn't a shot fighter being an 100 percent the same fighter. They wanted Cotto to be drain in which imo he was if you look at the weigh in in which he look like a skinny fighter. Wake me until Pacquiao finally face a REAL fighter without a bs catchweight ok?

This is a dumb thread........how many times does Freddie Roach have to tell you all that Manny Pacquiao is a 140 pounder......that when he fights at 147 lbs he's at a weight disadvantage.....that when he fights at 147 lbs they have to overfeed him.........they have to wake Manny up in the middle of the night to put pounds in him by feeding him protien shakes.........

......wait a minute........thats only the story when he's fighting Welterweights.....
......when Pacquiao is fighiting lightweights, he's all of a sudden a full blown welter that can be bothered to come down to what Freddie Roach has said many times is his natural weight class of 140 lbs.:nut

I guess it means Pacquiao beating De la hoya is nothing to brag about since Pacquiao didn't fight Cotto at the ww limit.

    Are you serious?

They asked Cotto a full blown Welterweight to come down 2 lbs, but just last week Freddie Roach was adamant that a lightweight come all the way up to
147 lbs for a Pacquiao fight?:-(

WTF?! :huh There's nothing too prove. Do you know how it works? These Floyd fanatics claim he was weight drained, yet state nothing to back it up. The onus in on them to prove their stance.

I hate that I am forced to explain something this simple to you. It tells me that either you don't know, or you do and are just trying to 'win' some argument or are too stubborn. I hope I am wrong.

DLH and Pac met in the middle. That didn't prove Pac was a legit WW did it? I mean, after all, DLH was SOOO drained. Anyway, that's moot.

Pac and Cotto meet in the middle too. Pac is more a jrWW competeing with WW's. That's what catchweights are for. When there's a big difference in size, but they want the fight, they try to meet somewhere in the middle. It's not rocket science dude.
