Diaz is also nothing special. Thats why Arum is putting him against that loser on March 15 and not even for the title. He is saving him for Pac to knock off.
During that fight all i saw was an Erik Morales who gave it his all yet there was nothing left of him. His balance was terrible in that fight yet he gave Diaz hell. Which does not say much about Diaz. Hence why he is fighting bums. Oh yea he avoided Soto when that fight was almost made.

I agree that Diaz isn't anything special but he's a solid champion. EM proved he could hang in there with a soild champion who is bigger than he is. My point is everyone is trying to discredit PAC's victory over EM and MAB saying both were shot when that is clearly not the case. When you saw the 3rd figth with MAB and EM I saw that both fighters were still very real threats to anyone in or around their division. MAB proved he's still a threat by IMO beating JMM in a ver close compeitive fight.

I don't recall many saying EM was shot after the MAB fight....both men preformed well and gave a great fight. Mab just did a bit better and pulled off the "W". Pac beat MAB and EM who were definitly past their primes but they were not even close to be SHOT! Those two were still 2 of the very best in their division at the times that PAC beat them.

Morales tapped that ass the first fight because Morales is one of the greatest fighters ever in the lighter weights...arguably a top 3 mexican fighter of all time.

And Pac had a good fight on that fight, just couldnt get it right the first time. He made up for it in the next two fights.

Morales also said after the fight "he felt every shot"

Morales was way past his best when he fought Diaz

Still got robbed, should of been a 4 weight champion.

I remeber Morales saying that.....but I took it as Manny was punching his face with his fist and that was the cause of "feeling" every punch.

In all seriousness....he spoke like a shot fighter, but that was more his pride being hurt by loosing convincingly to the same fighter.

EM is past his prime but he can still beat most of the top guys in his weight class. He beat David who is a solid champion...nothing special but still a world champion. If EM was shot David would have beaten him handidly

That was the beginning of the end for Morales. His last good fight.

I agree with this. This is what I've been saying ever since I came into this board. By the time Pac fought EM the second time around, it was clear that both EM and MAB were past their prime. BUT they weren't really shot.

Those past prime MAB and EM were still 2 of the best in the division and would've still kicked alot asses. So whether or not they were past prime(or even "shot" as alot of you like to label him) is truly irrelevant. That would only be relevant if we're talking about the past, if we're talking about prime MAB and EM about 4-5 years leading into the Pac-EM 2 bout and talk about how Pac would do against them and the people they've fought at the time. BUT we're not really talking about it, aren't we? We're talking about that time when Pac fought EM 4-5 years later and how beating EM did to Pac's achievements. And for me, its nothing short of very impressive. I mean he beat 2 boxers who were legends and were STILL the best at the time(matter of fact MAB was still in his prime when Pac beat him the 1st time), and drew with another of the best in JMM. Honestly you can't help but feel impressed and humbled at what Pac did.

Anyone who disagrees with this would only be discrediting EM and MAB.

Erik wasnt shot but he was certainly past his best and by the time he fought Pac the second time he was clearly looking past it though and the 3rd time was a total mismatch but I suppose Erik deserved a good payday.

i think they're on different divisions if you match them Prime wise... You may have a case at 122lbs, but we'll never know. but at the higher weights, Pac has it 2-1 .

Morales will be remembered in a higher regard as he fought the best fighters of his generation whilst in their primes whereas Pac met his best opponents while they were in their twilight years.

If any version of Pac was to have faced the Morales or Barrera of their year 2000 clash he would have came up very short.
