Pacquiao lost to the better man that night. I am glad to see that this poll seems to have a lot of sane people voting on it. If you really believe that Pacquiao lost over some damn gloves, that's nonsense.
Erik was also the naturally bigger and stronger man that night. More accustomed to 130. I think Pacquiao was a 122 pounder less than 2 years earlier, before he faced Erik. Manny wasnt that balanced and was getting kinda pushed around along the ropes from time to time.
If it was an obvious Castillo win, like Chavez Sr. vs Whitaker for example, then sure you can say "he beat him" but in a close fight the logical answer any logical fan will use is "it could have gone either way". Because it didn't go the way you thought was right doesn't mean the result is wrong and lets all hail Poptins or whatever for giving us the true result.
It was his first fight at the weight so he was clearly smaller, I should have added that but forgot, good one. Manny was also beyond one-dimensional that fight, he was just literally head hunting thinking the KO will surely come, a clear sign they overlooked this fight anyway. He could have used head movement and the body punches he's famous for but threw that all out the window. Of course not having the gloves he wanted and getting cut the way he did in the 4th didn't help mentally at all either.
It's the truth. No imaginary excuses here like the endless ones other fighters and their team/fans come up with after losses. What we're typing is what happened and we all know it. Arum demanded the Winning gloves based on an obvious request from team Morales, should we ignore this truth and MANY other ones surrounding this fight.
That's not an excuse. He lost clearly. What, I can't say the truth, now? AT that point in time, Erik was the more natural 130 pounder. Better technical boxer, longer reach, better experience. Manny had the better speed and had similar aggression.
he simply got beat by the better man. He still would've lost blood test or no blood test. It feels good to dislike Mayweather doesn't it?
Morales was the better overall fighter... he had the skills, jab & counter-punching ability to outbox Pacquiao & land the cleaner shots throughout the majority of the fight.... he had the chin to take Manny`s punches & the heart & grit to trade viciously when needed. Anytime before the 1st fight, Morales wins... anytime after that 1st fight, Pacman wins. It was all about timing IMO... the farther back in time/weight you go, it becomes an easier win for Erik.... the farther past the 1st fight you go becomes easier for Pac.... due to 2 reasons, Pac can handle the higher weights & still be great, Morales was declining at a rapid rate ever since their 1st war + 130 lbs was a weight he could no longer make without half killing himself. The facts ^
I've said it a thousand times...at WW, Pac can handle what fighters bring, fighters cannot handle what Pac brings. However, guys like Morales and JMM were used to that sort of speed and could handle it. They also have granite chins to boot. Moving up in weight is a calculated decision by the Pacquaio camp. Doesn't make it less incredible, but it IS calculated. Morales beat Pac because Morales has an unbelievable chin, fast hands himself, and was not intimidated whatsoever by what Pac brought to the table that first fight. He EVEN WENT SOUTHPAW THE LAST ROUND!!! was an UNBELIEVABLE thing to do.
