Why did PBF get **** for wearing the Mexican gear, but Hatton didn't

Mayweather is just more provocative. If he does something, people assume (and often rightly so) he is showing disrespect.

 

It's all in how you cook it. Mayweather is a slow cooker. Hatton is a freaking industrial pizza oven. Everyone likes fast pizza.

 

To answer the question; Mayweather came off as mocking Mexico. Hatton had commented well before the fight about how much he respected Latino fighters, and he was seen as honoring them.

Also, don't you know that big sombreros are the "in" thing right now. With global warming and all, big sombreros are quickly becoming a household item.
