For real. If it was all about avoiding Cotto, then he could've fought Oscar again for like $20 million, gone to 40-0, and then retired.

I don't know of the real motives, all I know is that I think he'll be back in the ring within a year.

Cotto more than Shane would be quiality opposition but Margarito is a ****ing nobody with no wins of note on his resume. He will be brutally beaten and outclassed by Cotto after being exposed by Clottey and beaten at his own game by a green Williams. PBF boxes circles around that kid, kick rocks with that stuff man.

I agree with this argument - he wants to retire at 40-0 and make 30-40 million in his last fight. The way to gurantee that is to see the outcome of Cotto-Margo, and the subsequent DLH vs the winner fight. He only stays retired if Margo wins.

He wanted to exercise power over his Dad by denying him a big payday.

he dont wanna risk getting beat why hes on top.

Hes acheived basically all he wanted to acheive...

if he wasnt a millionaire and cotto was p4p no1...... i could see floyd fighting him to get to the top, i could see floyd fighting anyone to get to the top, but now heres there he dont wanna risk it all..... hes protecting his postion as the number 1 so he gets more money

best way to keep from having to fight the best out there. He is at a crossroad where if he keeps fighting and does'nt fight the best he will get crusified by even his biggest fans.

which doesn't apply to other fighers because he got himself to the top. that makes it a double standard.

He retired to preserve his 0. He knows he'd have to face either Cotto or Margarito eventually, and both will beat him today.

Nothing left to prove basically, got bored and no fight out there motivates him anymore. I believe he will be back as he gets more and more motivated and it'll be for Cotto.
