Why did Primetime interview Marquez in Spanish after the fight and not English?

It's true, (but they don't often mess it up) but his English really isn't as good as it's being made out, there's no way that he could give a good interview because he can't express himself anywhere near as well in English. Content > language. And also, the interpreter is there for corner-work, to interview the trainers sometimes, so why not use him for an interview? I mean, when Pacquiao gives an interview after a fight, his English is absolute ****. I'd actually prefer for him to get an interpreter as well, then he might actually say something. But it's probably more difficult to speak in a different language after a tough fight; he seems better beforehand, although that stuff is all recorded anyway.

I think that Barrera speaks English best out of the the Mexican trio, he managed to get through that Ringside thing quite well (certain parts may have been re-shot though) a year ago. I remember Morales and perhaps Margarito receiving pre-fight instructions from the referee without interpretation, so they might understand the majority of what's being said, it's speaking which is the hardest part of a language that isn't your first.

 

I think you guys are missing something, Marquez is Mexican, and the 1st language is Spanish. Yes, we know Marquez can speak OK English, but when the lights are on and he has been in a fight non stop for 6 rounds, the last thing you want to think about is your second language. At the end of the day, if he wants to speak in Spanish, so what.

And TBH, perhaps he thought he owed it to all the Mexicans who were there singing in Spanish?

Also, if the interpreter is top notch, it makes no difference what language he spoke, someone said about the "horses mouth".....wouldnt it be better if he spoke in his natural language then, rather than missing things he may want to say in English?

Why the f*ck is this such a big deal anyway?
