or if you doubt him you could check his "facts" yourself instead of insulting the man who looks like he has done his research... i mean if his fav fighter is duran id expect him to know alot about the man (maybe a little bias but alot of what he has posted makes logical sense)

He was fat, out of shape and couldn't catch the clown. Do you have no powers of deduction whatsoever or are you just a tit?

I'm not saying he was responsible for Duran getting fat. Being fat was Duran's fault. I was saying Duran got fat himself, but SRL wanted a rematch as soon as possible. I tried to say he got Duran out of shape.

These Duran apologist are too much. They make more excuses for him than any other fans. The fact is he was getting outboxed and clowned he quit like a ***** period. If he wasn't mentally weak he would have kept fighting on and took the L like a man but he quit and will always be remembered for "no mas" which is more memorable than his actual win over SRL.:deal Pea Whitaker was out boxing JCC but he didn't quit he took his boxing lesson like a man. Quit with that SRL ran **** it's sour grapes he made adjustments and boxed instead of brawling and Duran couldn't handle it deal with it.:hi:

had he won those facts would remain facts
since he lost and quit because he was being clowned, they are excuses.
ive been around for a while and have heard all that BS before, they are excuses for quitting.
A guy like Victor Ortiz gets ROASTED for quitting against MM and he was beaten up, bleeding from every hole on his face, knocked down 2 or 3 times and was a beaten fighter. But Duran gets a pass because he had "stomach cramps"?
    B U L L S H I T :rofl
He was being made a fool of and didnt wanted to be slapped around like an amateur for another 7 rounds. its not rocket science why he quit. Leonard MADE HIM QUIT.
get the f u c k over it and dont get your panties in a wad :|

the loser of fight 1 did not hold all the cards in a rematch. duran could have told him to F - OFF and agreed to a different date. SRL didnt make him sign that contract for that particular date. excuses excuses

Well I'm not a Duran apologist and what he did was certainly wrong, had he not quite in this fight he might be regarded in the top 3 p4p ATG instead of 6-10 where most people now place him. But honestly, did you watch the fight?

I watched it about 3 months ago and it was a lot closer than most people think. But when Leonard start throwing bolo punches and things like that, I think he felt that this wasn't boxing, this was a circus. He should have responded by going after him, cutting off the ring and landing to the body instead of quiting. Even the ref didn't know what was going on when he quite because even the round he quite in wasn't all that one sided.

In fact, two of the judges had it 68-66 and one had it 67-66 all for Leonard., but that's hardly a blow out.

And yes, in this fight he was mentally weak, but he sure the hell wasn't when he was fighting at 135, and when he faced SRL the first time, or when he faced Hagler, Moore, and Barkley. The Barkley fight especially is one of the best fights I've ever seen in terms of a fighter having shear guts to trade with a much bigger, must strong, taller, younger fighter. During the first 3-4 rounds Duran was hit with some brutal, brutal punches.

SRL was coming on while Duran was getting tired. Thats obvious by the 20 times ive seen the fight. He knew what was coming. It was getting ready to get one sided as hell and he wasnt gonna be a part of it

I've seen the fight multiple times and SRL was up in the fight and was starting to get into a groove he was getting to Duran. The outcome was inevitable he was going to lose badly, so instead of taking the loss he instead decided to quit. A horrible decision on his part that still leaves a sour taste in people's mouth today and rightfully so. He wasn't injured he quit because he couldn't fathom the thought of not being able to get to SRL and he was getting clowned and that's weak as ****.

    Wrong.

The only people who will remember him for no mas, and claim that is more memorable than beating Leonard are Yank scum.

One day they just might realise that despite their best attempts at propaganda, other than lily livered British politicians NO ONE gives a flying **** what Yanks, or their poxy country thinks. As the poster said the only thing anyone in Durans camp cared about was the then purse fortune of 9 million dollars being released. That is why fighters go to america. DOLLARS, not opinions, or advice.

Even little Israel tells them to fvck off, and mind their own business when they stick their noses into Israeli affairs.

So he was weak 1 time in a career spanning 5 decades, 119 fights, and where Duran made up for his mistake plenty of times.

Showing guts in fighting Hearns at his prime weight, fighting a top 5 MW of all time in Hagler for the full 15 rounds (Which Tommy couldn't do and Leonard not wanting to), fighting the man who KO'ed Hearns in Barkley and winning. All while past his best weight/years/size.

Calling the man a ***** is going too far.

I personally don't think the outcome was predetermined at that point, one punch could have changed that whole fight, just like it did in Montreal. Like I said it was 68-66 on two cards ad 67-66 on one, given that Leonard obviously won the last round, it was a pretty close fight. But regardless, his action was inexcusable and he spend the rest of his career essentially making up for it. In my mind the SRL victory, which many people consider the greatest feat in boxing (I'm not one of them) but it a monumental victory considering SRL is considered in the top 3 w.w. of all time, is wiped out by his quiting in this fight.

I think he quit was out of frustration. Duran was foolish enough to agree to fight him on a date that did not give him enough time to make weight properly. He felt frustrated and knew that he did not have the legs and energy to do anything.
