Why did Roy Jones ruin his career the way he did?

My bad for the name calling but why deny the obvious is my question?......Roy starting out his career at 154 means nothing to me cause he was never a natural 154 pound fighter anyhow, Roy Jones and the story of his jaw is a very unique story in boxing cause never has it been revealed so late in a fighter's career that he had bad punch resistance but like I posted for umpteenth time in this thread, that just makes Roy that much more amazing in his prime that he could hide such a weakness for that long which was a glass jaw.

I understand what you are saying...

I just don't think he was truly glass jawed, because of certain punches he has taken, by larger men... He certainly was not iron jawed, but he was hit cleanly sometimes and was able to take it...

I think the punch Tarver hit him with would have knocked him out at any point in his career... The Johnson one though?? I can think of many that he was hit with much harder..

I think after Tarver cracked his average jaw at the age of 34, it really turned into a glass jaw... Some of those shots that hurt him now, he would have shaken off...

I guess we may never agree on this, but that is my opinion.:yep

    Agree to disagree big bruh!:good

Overall is Roy and the questions of how good or bad his jaw was in his prime something that still once in awhile confuse you as well?....or are you completely set within the opinion that you posted?

I don't think Roy ever had great punch resistance... I think he had the talent to hide and average jaw, he didn't need great punch resistance, which like you said, adds to how great he was...

But when I think glass jaw, I think of Roy now, or the Roy since the Johnson fight... He has clearly gotten worse... He took shots from Ruiz, Toney and Griffin that would put the current version into a coma...

I honestly saw a change in Roy after Tarver sparked him, I think that is when his jaw became true glass... Since then, light taps have knocked him over, it is horrible...

Maybe the decline in reflexes is a possibility, but I honestly feel like his jaw got worse with age, a jaw that was never great to begin with.

Benny is simply unreasonable, video proof has been given and he still clings to his agenda for whatever reason. Not sure why he has so much invested in it and why he results to insult people if they don't agree and show actual proofs. A gust of wind could KO this Jones. Once they crack, they don't come back often and this is the case with average jaw Jones.
