Ok *****, you're posing a ridiculously vague question and simply acting like a spoiled twat cause I won't play your little game. Martinez is unlike many other undisputed middleweight champs that have proceeded him in that he has been virtually unknown until a couple of years ago by casuals. Hell, he's still largely unknown. Now if your **** addled brain can comprehend his unique situation, he has to do different **** to get noticed. He has to do things that other lineal champs don't/didn't have to do. His ambition to be more recognized is what should prompt his willingness to fight anyone, anywhere. If you can't understand that, then I can't help you dear.
And he'd in all likelihood be a smaller US draw after the Pirog fight since he'd have been off TV for over a year. That's far more relevant at the bargaining table than a one-time offer to fight outside of the country in a bout no one sees. I'd note again though that the rating for Martinez-Macklin was the highest for his career; what tangible evidence do you actually have that it didn't help his drawing ability or his leverage?
Like going to Russia and fighting someone even less known then him OFF of American TV? Yeah that should do wonders for him.
Right, I said he turned down two offers for the Barker date. Geale had a mandatory due at the time of the Macklin fight.
All the linear champions in history yet Martinez is the exception........ And you expect me not to call you a complete ****ing idiot?
I'm sorry where in that post did I not seem calm? Tell me what would beating Pirog in Russia with no US TV courage have done for his career?
And your point? I didn't make any assertions about the amount of the offer and you never brought that up either. Rafael, a neutral source, describes it as solid. There was a good faith effort made to fight Geale, first by DiBella on his own and then per HBO's request.
What part of "career high payday" do you people not understand? I'm still waiting for someone to tell me, what the Macklin fight actually got him?
In the press conference he specifically said he would only fight for the real WBC belt and that he would be disowning the Diamond belt.
