Why did Showtime prefer Glen Johnson to Bute for the "Super" "Six"?

I thought he might be signed to HBO too as am sure some of his fights have aired on there. But told thats not the case as he might be signing a three fight deal with showtime. Theres a thread about it

 

He fought on HBO but does that mean he has a deal for x amount of fights or just one offs.

 

Thats probably the correct answer. Johnson loses almost every time he steps up, 14 losses 2 draws, in his 40s and not been a SMW for years, but because he is recognised foolish fans think Johnson is a big win .
On the European scene at SMW, Johnson was a journeyman, losing to Branco & Ottke

 

IMO, I think Johnson would be easier to please in the Tournament instead of Bute due to they probably didnt want to shell out the money for Bute...Plus Bute would be in bad position since he didnt start from the begining (as far as the points go)

 

If they give Bute big money, it's because he also brings big money with him packing in 20 000 for fights against Super 6 opposition !

...and if Bute didn't go through it before, maybe you should give Hershman a call and ask him if he regrets not inviting him at all...

 

I assume your right. Hes not a star attraction to the general public. So they dont need to lock him in and he will take the deals he gets. That still leaves why he wasn't in the super six. Did he price himself out. I think they didnt want him and he will fight ward sometime in the future when the fight is marketable

 

Johnson didnt start at the beginning and is in the same situation as Bute would be, if he started. But yes Johnson because of all his losses is probably greatful for the opportunity, and easier to please

Have you ever thought that it would insult Bute to ask him to join a tournament that has already begun and probably make him take a pay cut when he could just wait and fight the winner of the tournament???atsch

 

Thats my whole point...I honestly think Bute will probably get it on with the winner of the Super 6.

 

At this point, I think Bute couldn't give a **** about points. If he fights any of those guys and wins, they'll make sure he keeps on fighting another one as long as he wins until he gets the winner if he's still undefeated.

If they shell out money for Bute, it's cause he brings it to the table also ! These guys aren't idiots that can't count....

 

Because most everyone knew that this was for Andre Ward and Andre Dirrell, and Lucian Bute would brutalize either, EARLY!
