Why did Showtime prefer Glen Johnson to Bute for the "Super" "Six"?

Yeah, but Bute is good enough to beat Green and the semi-finalist to fight the final anyway, right? And for good money too! So why is he not in?

Forgive my ignorance but wasn't Bute still involved with HBO when Showtime took Glen Johnson?

Ohh, I'm not saying he's not going to beat Green...I pretty much expect him to put on a clinic on Green if he does decide to enter...IMO, I think Bute should just wait until this is all over...I honestly think he's can make if he should wait it out...Get him a high profile fight at 168, wait until the tournament is over then fight the winner...but hey, thats just my me though!:good

Well... no... Bute never had a deal with HBO... but he was being considered an HBO fighter because HBO would show his good fights.

But wouldn't Bute's profile grow if he were in the tournament compared to if he fought Mendy on ESPN3?

If Bute fights Ward now, then Ward loses his perfect record, future PPV $$$ and the rest that comes with being built up.

These guys might fight later in some super big PPV. Both undefeated superstars battling for supremacy of the super middle weight division. If Bute signs on to the Super Six, all that goes out the window.

I'd laugh my ass off if we don't see the winner Johnson-Green in the final for some stupid reason and by that time, they will annouce that Lucian Bute will be the finalist. I mean: what's the point of burning Ward or Bute in the semi-final when you can have both in the finals:) That would probably explain Bika presence against Ward. With all that happened in the last months, that would not surprise me,mhahahha. If they signed something, i assume there will be some clause that we won't know!lol Corruption is everywhere...especially in the Super Six tournament!

That is fine. There is no way that Ward and Bute should fight now (money wise) because it will ruin the big fight yet to be announced.

Look at how Ward has been treated. He always fights at home, they give him two free points and the ref helps him in the ring. He is really good but he is also getting a lot of help to build his name. This is standard operating procedure.

And Bute doesn't want Ward to lose either since it means big money to him as well.

I cant dispute that...I was just looking at this from Bute's point...Maybe I'm wrong, but if he were to enter, would they start him off with no points??? From my understanding of how things work...Again, I'm not 100% sure so I'm only looking at from this angle...If I were Bute, I would just wait it out because anything can happen...I do understand that the Super 6 would probably give him a boost in popularity, thats a no-brainer, but my whole arguement is will Bute be ok with his position in this tournament as of right now??? Thats the Million dollar question!:good

Hmmm... The winner of Johnson vs. Green is guaranteed a place in the semis but not in the final...

And I don't think Showtime can pull Bute out of their arse at the very last minute for the final - the other semi-final winner would sue THEIR arse...

Do we even know that Bute is interested right now? Would the scheduling even have worked?

If they had picked Bute instead of Johnson to fight Green, he would have fought for a place in the semis, just like Johnson and Green.
