Lacy threatend to quit? Was that so? When he hadnt looked impressive after Calzaghe beat him, struggling in every fight after, he could still make big demands, to fight Taylor, rather than see Taylor fight an undefeated world champ who had just beaten an undefeated Pascal.

Because Taylor is afraid of white guys (understandably seeing what they have done to him in the ring) :deal

Lacy was a bigger money fight AND an easy win coming back off of two losses.

Can see the point, but it's still wrong. HBO will pay more money for a mismatch against a shot "name" fighter who brings in viewers than they will for a potentially close and good fight against a no-name, whether that no-name is a titlist or not.

and that is precisely why american tv companies ruin boxing.

you don't have a clue. If not for HBO, where would boxing be in America? No small cable companies would be able to pay the fees that HBO does because they are a subscription service. And HBO has a large base.

Unless you want even more fighters making chump change, then don't be so quick to blast HBO. Dumbass.

i'm not saying it doesn't make great money for certain fighters, i'm saying that it ruins boxing as a fairly run sport, where the best fight the best, whether fighters are considered high risk/low reward types or not.

these companies have too much power in the sport, they brainwash the gullable american public into thinking that taylor - lacy is a more relevant fight than taylor - froch. that kind of **** is not good for the sport of boxing you ****in ******* :good

It is still a matter of 'what sells'. At this level it is a business first, sport second.

Quick edit. If it wasn't for networks like HBO and the money they have to promote the fights boxing would be in worse shape overall. Don't just look at a match up here and there. Look at the big picture.

Manny Stewart said that even while the middleweight champ that Taylor didn't even know what belts he held. He isn't a big boxing fan.

    HBO money is the answer

you said it all, business 1st, the sport of boxing 2nd.

its not an isolated incident either.
