bro, they are a television network. HBO ruining boxing as "fairly run sport?" That's a real reach. The ABC's are the culprits. Two completely different stories.

You are upset about one fight that eventually was put on Showtime, no blood lost. HBO is great for the sport. They occasionally leave you scratching your head, wondering why they rejected a fight, but believe me, they reject PLENTY of **** fights that the promoters are trying to put on the network. Jerk.:rofl

    its not about one fight

its about tv companies in general having too much power in boxing and preventing it from being a fairly run sport where the best fight the best, instead of feeding brainwashed **** to gullable, ignorant americans.

    nobhead

Did a TV network prevent Pac-May, did they prevent Hopkins-Jones II years ago, what the hell are they preventing?

And if a network determines a fight not being feasible for them to put on for the price asked, maybe the promoters and fighters need to check themselves and their marketability.

And by the way, you crossed the line at nobhead. I have some serious soul searching to do now, thanks a lot....:bart

Every professional sport is a business first...do you think the NBA gets by on charitable donations?

And how can American TV producers, specifically, ruin an entire sport? It's a worldwide sport.

Again.....do you really think it is only in America that it happens? Think about it. Were some of the televised matchups in..........say....... the UK over the years the best ones that could have been made? Did the fighters fight the best opponents in lieu of a big payday? HBO might be the highest profile, but they are not the only party guilty of it.
    Come off it.

The real story might be the incompetence of the people running the boxing shows at HBO. There was a nice thread on it a while back. Overall though, take the HBO money out of boxing in the US and see what happens.
