Why did the ref stop

The stoppage was too soon as this was heading to FOTY for 2016:deal

 

not every ref is jack reiss. you make it up at 10 he asks you if you want to continue and he let's you.
he even allows it if you are up at exactly 10.

If not for watching e-rods last fight I would have been okay with the stoppage. e rod fell on his face trying to get up in his fight prior to this one. made it to his feet and went on to win.

Rodriguez looked as if he could go some more but they were throwing some heavy leather in there and several fighters have just recently suffered major damage because fights were allowed to continue when they should have been stopped. I guess the ref didn't want that on his conscience. It is always better to err on the side of caution.

The question regarding the bell ringing to end the round does not happen if the ref is doing a count as a boxer cannot be saved by the bell unless its the final round.
