A few years back there were a fair few fights being scored with an open scoring system that was announced to the boxers and crowds every 4 rounds and also in the 11th.. Why did they scrap it? Seems like it would remove corruption and at least give a boxer a chance to know where they were at in a fight.
It isn't done on big networks because the commentators thoroughly ripped it as a stupid idea. In Mexico and other places in Latin America, It's still used pretty frequently. I can also give an example of it NOT stopping corruption, as the last fight I saw it used in, one judge had JCC Jr winning every round going into the latter portion of the fight despite the fact that it was extremely close.
I don't like it. Some fighters get lazy because of it. In close fights not knowing it would push fighters to give everything. Also I don't think it will remove corruption.
Well, if they haven't stopped it, they should. It's a silly gimick that distorts the natural "flow" of a fight.
Wtf kind of example is that? De La Hoya lost because he misjudged the scores, he didn't "figure" anything out, he assumed and was wrong and it was a huge blow to his career.
