Why did Toney and RJJ never have a rematch?

    The fight was a one-sided drubbing...so no real need for a rematch, and you try and get Toney and Jones together to agree terms after that? "60/40 I kick yo ass".

    close thread. i might also add, Toney wasn't a part time blind janitor, and so didn't fit the bill for RJJ's future opponents. :deal

    i dont know why it never happened but was there realy need for one it was a clear win and toney was never going to be able to cope with the speed so no need for one

    Toney trained for the Jones fight the same way he trained for all his fights back then. He would enter camp weighing 200+ and get down to 168 in the next six weeks.

    Jones style style wise is all wrong for Toney who likes to lay back and play counter puncher. Deep down in his heart Toney knew that as well. If you watch Toney-Griffin I, you will see that Griffin beats Toney using the same strategy that Jones used.
