I was rewatching the Spence vs Ugas fight and it had me wondering, "Why did Ugas just stand in front of Spence and not do enough movement?" I've noticed in a lot of Spence fights, outside of Porter, they seem to stand in front of Spence and not do enough moving. Is it because Spence is great at making you fight his fight or is the relentless pressure?
I think Ugas is a counter puncher. He waits for the right moment to counter attack. However, Spence Jr didn't grant him that moment and used him as a punching bag. Plus, Ugas is old and slow, whereas Spence Jr is young and fast.
he is more complete than everyone but a handful give him credit for. you are going to fight at his pace and his distance, and you dont get a say in it. he has the size, length, athleticism, speed and toughness, to impose his will over yours. you might one day beat him at his fight, but you are gonna be fighting his fight. ugas found his only chance was to time him coming in. he is too strong and too fast to beat him on the move. thats his game, relentlesness. this is what i posted bout this fight prefight. and one beat down and broken face later, here we are.
yes. if someone can beat spence while playing his game, its bud. but i think the difference in toughness will be the deciding factor. spence dont fight with emotion, he dont need to feel some kinda way to break you in half. he wants you fighting that way. burning energy on other things besides whats happening that split second. bud needs little encouragement to get emotional. its worked for him beautifully so far. but he aint never faced spence. or anyone like spence. this is the best fighter, by far, that bud has ever stepped in the ring with. spence been there.
cause most people dksab. they think they know, but they know what theyve been told, for the most part. thats why their arguments dont go above worn out cliches....styles make fights, the boxer beats the slugger, cant hit what you cant see, yada yada yada. this isnt everyone of course, some have a clue as to how much there actually is to boxing at the highest levels. but surprisingly enough, you have professionals at world levels, that also dont understand what it takes. they find a horse who has the tools to run in the big races, but they dont know how to make him a champion. its nothing that shouldnt be expected. i mean, how many people have the time to seek the sources that actually know the big picture. then take the time to understand all theyre telling me. when shawn porter already agrees with my analysis. im in the conversation. again, thats not everyone, but enough that they dominate the conversation. everyone has been telling them what a phenom crawford is, i mean, he can change stances and land punches ffs. and theyve been telling themselves how ordinary a fighter spence really is. when you really take a look at him. hes lucky he caught my horse on the way out.
This is why I think Spence will win. Bud’s pride would get in his own way when things aren’t going his way and he’ll leave himself vulnerable. Bud’s biggest weapon is his ability to go southpaw by the 3-4th round however, that would be less effective against Spence who’s a southpaw. That would place Bud’s face right in line with his jab.
