    He just replied with

Lidocaine is not currently listed by the World Anti-Doping Agency as an illegal substance.

    [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lidocaine[/ame]

To which Im dumbfounded and said

NSAC follows WADA list now? (Forgive me for not knowing)

But that quote about it being illegal a week before the fight what was that about?

i give credit to eze for doing his research on this and finding out some interesting information.

I try to stay away from this type of topic because something shady is going on and this is has become a political game rather than boxing.

Forgive me had to run out. He last responded with.

Yes, BUT even non-prohibited drugs must be disclosed and approved for use by the commission. My understanding (from commission doctors) is that some drugs, like aspirin and Lidocaine, are not OK'd as there are safer alternative medications.

    Sent this to him.

So from what I understand. IF a fighter attempts to use an illegal drug
but discloses it and is given permission then its okay?

    I don't understand this then

Marc Ratner, of the NSAC advised Oscar not to worry about their
urinalysis because Xylocaine is normally expelled out of the body very
    quickly.

    http://www.doghouseboxing.com/Garcia/Garcia091904.htm

That sounds to me like Marc believes it to be illegal to use but because
it would be out of his body quickly it wont matter.

Almost as if he let him use it without disclosing it.

    I wrote this -

    Oh okay.

So, numbing of the hands is legal to a degree for someone with say
Brittle hands, like Mayweather or DLH.

You guys don't want someone to be completely numbing their hands where
    they can't feel a thing?

    Definitely don't want complete numbing!

A low-level shot may be OK depending on the situation. I leave that decision to a licensed doctor.

    Thanks.

You are talking to a bureaucrat.

You must understand how USADA came about, its realtionship with the USOC.

If I remember it right, the USADA is brought about by a congressinal charter as a body independent of the IOC and apparently with an initial funding of 10 million dollars (my memeory might fail me but I am sure that that figure is close to it). It however is a regulating body concerned with AMATEUR sports.

Basically, it is run by bureaucrats, like politicians. It does not do its own test but rather accredits laboratories who run these tests, and foremost in the US is the UCLA.

That is why it is amusing that a simple matter like generic and brand names of the drugs are confused (i.e., Lidocaine and Xylocaine are the same drug, being that lidocaine is the generic name and marketed as Xylocaine by one of the giant drug companies, Astra Zeneca).

It begs the question why USADA wants to insert itself to professional sports including the NBA, NFL, Baseball. The answer is probably simply on the initial charter - the funding provided by the governmant barely covers operational expenses. USADA's jurisdiction is limited to amateur sports but tapping on the professional side of the sports brings money.

Similarly, Conte of the famed BALCO was just the face of that company. He does not have a degree in pharmacology or medicine and infact was a musician. He was literally the spokesman, the founder. He however employs experts to run his company.

Furthermore, it is highlky unlikely that NSAC tests for lidocaine because standard testing protocols are basically based on WADA list, and developing tests outside of that lists is expensive simply because of the basic mpinciple that there is less number of athletes to be tested (cost to benefit ratio). It has taken WADA decades to detect EPO, considering that this drugs benefits many athletes compared to a drug like xylocaine whose benefit is very limited to certain athletes.

They send their samples to a lab. That lab test for it.

I sent an email awhile back arguing with Bazooka to WADA asking them if a test for lidocaine exist. And they answered yes, we don't test for it in our facilities but a test exist.

And to further add to this, I emailed the place NSAC used to test and ask them if they have a lidocaine test and they said Yes.

They test close to 66 chemicals including its markers or masking agents.

Look, when it is not illegal, why would they tests it?

Where exactly in the NSAC rules do they not allow lidocaine.

The problem with this drug is that it is locally acting, meaning that if you inject it on your knees for bum knees, it would probably show uo in the blood. It does not differentiate if you inject it to your hand or your *****.

All that we are getting are conjectural hocus-pocus.

The one they are sending their samples are basically following WADA protocols or their tests are WADA based. Even in the hospitals where Lidocaine is probably used more, there is no quantitative tests to detect it.

The one responding to yuour e-mails (if they really exists) are most likely clerks. I doubt that Tygart, or Kizer respond individually to E-mails. These are CEO's, Chief, or head of aganecies. If you are busy, they are 100 times busy.

The easiest way to do it is to ask UCLA laboratories if they have panel tests to cover lidocaine. This is the most complete and refutable testing laboratory affiliated with the USADA. The technocrats rather than the bureaucrats could answer your question.

Your answer is a bit conflicting because you are stating WADA when WADA does not acknowledge lidocaine as a PEDS. It is not listed in the banned substance. I am not saying that the testing does not exist.. However, by simply not standardized, it does not hold much water. The same reason why they rolled out EPO testing slowly despite the fact that they already have the test. They want to be sure that it would stand in court if they are sued. Example - false -positive tests.. You don't want to accuse an athlete and then find out that the testing procedure is flawed = millions of dollars in compensation.

Because I'm guessing it's illegal when not permitted. As Kizer essentially said.

I'm being responded to from Kizer himself. His direct email
    This content is protected
    .

They follow WADA's protocol but WADA doesn't do the testing. NSAC can follow something but test for other things as well.
