Yeh I don't think Valero is any where near the position of calling the shots, it was a mistake by not taking on the Columbian.

Also in regards to Prescott, does anyone else think he has been too inactive? The man he blew away in 54 seconds has moved to the US, switched to a legendary trainer and is fighting for the 3rd time since that night, and it's for a world title! Whereas Prescott is fighting on the 17th for only the second time.

I agree thats why the Valero fight would have been a good one but he turned him down thinking he was getting Pacquiao next. Prescott is fighting next week on FNF but he needs to be more active. I would like to see Prescott with Katsidis as well.

I've seen the fight before Khan that was on ESPN 2 FNF and he looked less the average against a less then average fighter and won a SD. Then there was the Khan fight where Khan's chin made him look like the second coming of Wilfredo Gomez. Then there was the fight after Khan against Toledo who is a super featherweight journeymen with a not so great chin and he pretty much went the full 10 rounds with Prescott takin everything Prescott had to throw at him and Toledo didnt even flinch.

So I would say I've seen as much as Prescott as one can see and he's average at best.:deal

    risk/reward 101.

would you fight a fighter who has no fanbase, bring no money to the table, and who most people think is a one hit wonder, who everyone expects you to beat but who could very well be dangerous...

or would you fight a future HOF fighter who has a huge fanbase, who brings more money to the table, but who struggled in his last 4 fights, who is clearly shot, who's coming off a KO loss, and for whom people will give you more props if you beat.

And what if he doesn't? What if he's relegated to a nothing fight on a top rank PPV undercard, I bet hez be feelin pretty dum den dawgZ.

And that's the long and the short of it. He's never been on American TV...thus he's a no name.

Whether you're known on a message board is different then whether you're known enough to draw a crowd.

There's a reason people were leaving during the main event of the Lightweight Lightning card.

I'll pick Prescott to beat his ass in a tough close fight that goes the distance.

That's all 100% true but Valero is in no position to think that way. Right now he's in the process of rising and taking risky fights is the only way to do it. Fighting easy opponents then calling out Pacquiao, Mayweather and Marquez will only draw laughter.

Some risky fights need to be taken before taking the risk/reward route and fighters usually go that path at the end of their careers when they're looking to make big dollars after accomplishing a lot. Valero hasn't accomplished anything worth mentioning so far in terms of resume.

Prescott is pretty bad. I saw 2 of his fights on ESPN and he did not impress me at all.

Valero would beat this guy pretty easily imo

Fighters tend to show up in different shape/form for bigger fights. A good example is how Pacquiao looked against Velasquez and how he looked against Morales one fight later.
