Why did Vitali carry Adamek so long?

Maybe Vitali just didn't want to make any stupid mistakes. He has massive ring rust, after all, and Adamek is not exactly a tomato can.

- Or maybe Vitali wanted the practice. Sparring and actually fighting are two very different things.

- Or maybe Vitali simply wanted to give the fans their moneys worth.

 

Decades, you? Yes, I saw the fight, and? Are you suggesting that if you earn the right to fight someone, and lose badly, retroactively, it can be decided that you should never have been allowed to try? :think Interesting.

 

Darnit. I didn't realize the fight tonight wasn't live. I was going to say that this fight will go just how Klitschko fights tend to go.

 

Since his return the fights have been averaging nine rounds so perhaps he did not really carry him much, if at all. I did appear that he could have just run over him but the brothers fight under control and rarely sell out offensively much anymore.

Vitaly sure would have wished he did go ape**** early in the fight if indeed he had hurt his right knee wile slipping in the 8th. I bet several though, 'here we go again, another injury loss/TKO". It sure as hell entered my mind when he sli[[ed. Big guys just look so swkward when they go down. Even benigh falls resemble train wrecks.

 

Bacause he moved/ran less and landed like 12 more punches in two fewer rounds. Not really worth argueing over however.

 

Have you noticed in Vitalis fights vs smaller guys he almost always throws the R hand off the front foot, kind of like a jab almost. He never loads it up. I'm almost positive it is for protection against guys like Byrd and Haye and Johnson who force you to miss. Seems he learned his lesson there against Byrd with the smaller guys not to overthrow.

And as for caryying Adamek.....it was clear from the 2nd round, that Vitali had no ill intentions for Adamek. He never wnt for the kill any of the 3-4 times he had him hurt. He backed off, looked for the ref to intervene then went back to the jab.
IMO this was Vitali at his classiest and a wake up call for Adamek.
If Adamek is serious about boxing and not just in it for big paydays, he'll do the right thing, and go back to CW and be the CHAMPION he IS.

I'm guessing it was a combination of the RTL commercial money and wanting to give the Polish fans a bit of a show.

What bothered me was Vitali didn't try to knock Adamek down. Adamek got destroyed, but not knocked off his feet.

From the end of Round 2 on it seemed like a straight KO was there if Vitali had committed. Bummer for the fans watching. The RTL ad people should tell Vitali a KO will sell future fights better.

 

adamek to his credit, took a big beating, but he was the one to prolong it, he moved away just enough to stand on his feet, i think vitali took it easy on him, forgot which round but vitali did not throw alot of punches, i think just enoug to win the round, know this was less vitali carrying him, an more the ref not doing his job, should of been stopped on round before, by either the ref or the corner..

If you think Adamek did great, or feel the need to defend him, welll fine.

Personally I found the fight a stain on a division that has been in trouble for years in regards to regaining it's popularity.

 

Vitali basically couldn't miss him with his accurate jab, left hook and right hand, some uppercuts here and there but basically very relaxed, very much at ease. Tomasz, from what I have seen and I am very sorry to say this, was never supposed to be here and against this mountain of a man. Tomasz is a light-heavy who dealt with cruisers due to his power but he could never reach or box or engage with Vitali, not him, not Juan Carlos Gomez before him, not Chris Arreola, not Shannon Briggs. Man, it takes a new blood mountain of a man, a solid puncher and a warrior to dethrone this guy. Adamek never was in this fight.

Vitali is very intelligent, he knows a prolonged beating does more longterm damage and has a higher risk of permanent injury, to say he let it last because he didn't want to hurt Adamek is a bit of a contradiction.

 

I noticed this. He respects Adamek and gave him a chance to fight. He showed respect to the fans as well, who paid for tickets and came from all over to get their money's worth. The extra rounds didn't hurt as well. I think VK knew pretty early it was a 100% KO, just a matter of time.

I personally realized Adamek was finished after round 1. Like Letterman said, why didn't he at least try to throw the overhand right, do or die?

 

I don't think he carried him. Vitali did his thing. Adamek's a tough nut to crack.
