If you have any footage on Ward and Dirrell I would appreciate it very much. As I said before I haven't seen anything of Ward except his last three fights and have only seen crappy youtube footage of Dirrell.

I was at this fight. A real good friend of mine landed the punch of the night on the undercard with a 1st round TKO. Even though you didn't ask, I think I'm going to try to find it anyway. Hell, it can't be more than 3 minutes.

Click on March 29, 2007 and go about 1:30 into the clip (it happens at about the 2:00 mark). This guy is one of Ward's regular sparring partners (and the reason I get to see Ward spar during private sessions). He placed somewhere near $2,000 on Ward to beat Kessler and won a nice chunk of change, and therefore paid for my broke ass to see Ward vs. Kessler. Anyway, you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it.

On a sidenote: Another poster reffered to fightbeat where Otis Griffin posts. I read Otis coments about his sparring with Kessler which were quite interesting.

 

Check out the next one I posted if you care to see. It's not too long. I'm sure it hits much closer to home with me seeing as how I know some of these guys personally, but let me know if I'm being overexcited, or if my friend straight knocks the CRAP out of this dude!

Looked like he feinted him to go straight into that punch. Hit him square on the jaw too. He was clearly the better fighter of the two.

 

I may have seen those. Otis is another local fighter in my area. These guys have all sparred each other at one time or another. I've also been trying to make a little noise about a fighter at 168 named Brandon Gonzales (Sacramento) who spars Ward, Griffin, friend in the video, and several others around here. I heard through the grapevine that Gonzales sparred Kessler when he was in Sac and supposedly, Gonzales "lit him up". That's just what I HEARD. I didn't see it, so I cannot testify to it. Anyway, I truly believe he will be turning many heads soon.

 

Well I haven't seen Gonzales, but from what Griffin told of the sparring Kessler has serious trouble with fast slick fighters. While this isn't breaking news in any way I seriously thought that Kessler would have worked on those issues pre Calzaghe. Otis mentioned that he himself gave Kessler trouble in sparring. I see no reason not to believe this as he wasn't knocking Kessler's skill, but merely stating that his style of fighting really gave him hell.
