Why did Wilder turn down $7M to fight Whyte to take $2M to fight Ortiz?

I think Whyte/Wilder would be PPV in the UK.
I think it would be built up massively and an episode of The Gloves Are Off etc
Both are good talkers.

I don't really get it. As much as the wilder v whyte fight would be a decent fight. There's got to be 50 million dollars on the table for wilder v Joshua right now if the parker figures are anything to go by if not more.

Just make the fight. How much moneys enough really. Theres almost no one out there for Joshua to fight. Pulev, povetkins chances are pretty low. Ortiz/parker coming off losses. Millers not good enough. Will wilder beating whyte and Joshua beating miller really add that much to the pot anyway. Not really. Whyte v wilder won't sell all that well. A lot of the time..theres more tickets sold off the back of some bad blood more than what they do in the ring anyway. Like haye v bellew for example.

uk and usa have a double taxation policy

wilder can bring his money back to the usa without being taxed twice.

iit is joshua who would have to pay twice if he fought in america as uk income tax at the top rate is 6% higher than america.
so joshua would pay 39% in america and 6 % extra if he brought the money back into the uk

if the 2 tax rates were identical that is where there is nothing to pay.

 

You need to ask why Hearn is willing to pay Wilder over the odds to fight Whyte, yet is sending low ball offers to fight AJ.

I find it interesting as to why people expect Joshua who has won 3 titles in 3 different fights and has far more to lose (3 titles to 1) and taken more risks in bigger fights to get to this point, should not be substantially receiving more.

Wilder could get paid the same as he normally gets and if he wins would hold all of the titles. He would then be in the drivers seat for all future fights while holding the titles and able to get more in his next fight if he wins.

Now I dont expect Wilder to only get what he normally receives because he would be part of a big fight that would be creating interest and wouldnt want someone who is putting their health and possibly life on the line to not be well rewarded.

The thing I was trying to say really was (and I dont expect it to be said or happen) is that if Wilder were willing to take the same amount as what he took in his fight with Ortiz (which I read was a career high payday) then nobody could say Wilder was not wanting the fight and he wouldnt be making any less than he normally does.
There would be no more at stake than usual for Wilder because he only has the one title he defended previously.

My opinion doesnt count for anything as its not me taking the punches and it is just a comment
