I had really, really, low self esteem and I wanted to know how to defend myself. Then I learned how much fun it was and I started to keep up with the sport.
My dad sent me when i was younger to learn to defend myself. But my pops was never my favourite person, so i didn't want to do it because he wanted me to. So i left it for years, then i started to appreciate it more. Still go on & off though. Its great fun, so much variety to the sport, so many skills. Feels amazing when you work hard on somethin and you can feel it coming together.
Boxing is just like any other sport that ppl love playing. there the same reason why ppl get into baseball or basketball or soccer.. I personally was scrared of boxing at first because of being hit made sence when i was 9 yrs old. I went on to play alot of Basketball in my highscool days then started to grow to boxing coming out of highschool. Best Conditioning ever hands down... imo:bbb
Dad tought me how to punch before he tought me how to socialise with others (4-5), bad idea as on my first day of school I had 2 fights, but on the bright side i won both and the second one was 1 vs 2 aswell. Dad is pretty much all machismo, people who meet me think am macho but compared with my dad am like a bith. He pretty much tought me the basic's and the importance of defence, stoppped when i was 8 or so then started as a teenager and realised I had a good defence and not being hit in sparring was simply fun to me.
Had Uncles that boxed and my oldest brother was into martial arts. My dad managed a few low level prospects for a little bit and I got to go to gyms at times when I was like 5 and I fell in love with boxing. Started seriously training at around 6 or 7. Wanted to know how to defend myself.
My mom sent me to a boxing gym when i was 9 cuz i was so lazy. I boxed for about 2 years then quit. A couple of years later when i was 16 a friend got a really bad beating while I was there, and i didnt do anything to help. After that i started boxing to get braver in situations like these
At first, no real reason. I didn't even really like boxing as a sport, but I just wanted to try it out. Then as I slowly progressed, I started getting interested in the sport. 5 years later, I love it. I love getting in the gym, and love the feeling of getting out after having some intense sparring. It feels great, mentally, and physically (sort of).
Was a casual fan until Mayweather vs Hatton. Was interested and joined a gym as soon as my football team folded.
no, what i meant to say was i learnt how to fight before i started school, which was the first time i had to socialise with strangers
Enjoy fighting, always been naturally quite good, wanting to push myself, tired of being an armchair fan, always good for self defence. Main reason would probably be boxing being the sole thing im really interested in my life it would be a waste not to give it a go
