Why didn’t Sugar Ray Robinson rematch Joey Maxim?

    He was ahead on all cards when he fainted, why didn’t he try it again? He probably would’ve won IMO.

    He chose to retire immediately afterward & pursue business & other ventures.

    Robinson almost died in that fight. He was not well for several weeks. He said he didn't feel 100% normal for about 6 months. That probably made the decision to retire a bit easier.

    SRR, known as something of a prudish, tea-totaling type, was staunchly and loquaciously against the rude and salacious magazine which had Maxim as its namesake. He figured until Maxim and his outlet cleaned up their act and got rid of the suggestive images of females covered only in blankets and shame, alcohol advertisements and general ribaldry or such that he would sit out a rematch, in protest, as it would make his opponent so much morally undeserved financial capital. Well, Maxim never did clean up his act and that magazine kept on being practically filth of the masses. Some say Maxim even did something with his own wife called a 'reverse cowgirl.' If God is your only witness to something like that, it's still God you are dishonouring of cheque. That's what I say.
