Why didn't AJ box the way he did against Usyk 2?

Was his strategy to try and knock Dubois out? I thought he's more cautious than that now. To be honest I haven't paid attention to AJ much in a while, but I assumed he would just go for a clinical outboxing session against Dubois, and get a boring points victory or late knockout the same way Usyk did.

Obviously AJ isn't on Usyk's level, but in my mind I assumed he'd upgraded in skill level since going 24 rounds with him. He looked like he'd completely regressed in this fight, and worse some wannabe Ali-Lewis poser with that low guard.

I'm assuming he reverted back to his old arrogance after the Ngannou KO. He broke the apex predator of MMA that was thought to be invulnerable as if he was breaking a twig. If you see his social media postings, it's all full of corny lines that are supposed to sound cool and ominous. ''Reality is about to hit him'', ''I exist in a realm where all things are possible'', ''quiet dedication'', ''Law 15'' etc.

Dubois isn't the Boxer Usyk is, so Joshua probably assumed he would just do him like he did Ngannou. This is literally just the first Ruiz fight 2.0, except he most likely doesn't have what it takes to win a rematch.

Because he has been working with a different trainer for a long time.

And Usyk didn't attack him the way Dubois did. He was probably scared what had happened in Andy Ruiz Jr fight would happen again, and it did.

Dubois was outjabbing him from the opening bell, that was a big part of it. Not a normal jab either, Dubois was hurting him with it. The power had AJ shook from the beginning.

Dubois' speed and physical strength were also very surprising.

A better question is probably why didn't Dubois fight AJ like he was Usyk? Because his team realised their best chance at winning was a more swarming, constant attack on AJ.

If Dubois attempted to potshot AJ the way Usyk hass he would have found himself losing by wide decision.

AJ has a glass jaw. He can hide it by fighting non-punchers like Usyk, wallin, MMA dude, just like Khan's career.

fighting a guy like DDD is only a matter of when DDD lands. no strategy would've helped. Period.

Dubois would easily have got through, Usyk landed time and again in that fight, AJ cannot take Dubois`s power.

Non-puncher is a bit harsh on Usyk after what he did to Fury, he also hurt Chisora in their fight.

Usyk is definitely a non-puncher. he only has 1 stoppage at HW. Dubois had to fight the ref and usyk, ran out of gas. it wasn't so much he was badly concussed or damaged.

Usyk boxed his ears off and he quit, ay punch below the belly button is deeemed illegal, none of the rounds in that figt were close aside from the round with the low blow.

I actually thought Joshua would fight scared like he did against Ruiz in the rematch. It probably would have given him his best chance.

Because Dubois exposed him and showed that he is still unimproved fighter in the trenches.

I'm wondering this myself. AJ proved he had boxing skill with both Ruiz and Usyk...

I wonder if maybe knocking out Ngannou made him more inclined to brawl.

Anyway, the result was a shock to me, had no idea AJ would get stopped.
