Why Didn't Bert Gilroy Fight For The British Title?

I've never spoke ill of any of them.Im finding no angles but I'm also not going to accept claims a man was a world class boxer for 10 years when there is absolutely nothing to suggest that was the case. Nor that when he beatTommy Henderson he beat a world class fighter.
Sadd at least can claim he was once Ring top ten ranked ,no 10 in1938 .Gilroy was never in those ratings and never achieved more than the Scottish Area title.
