Why didn't BHop ever campaign at 168?

Why did he fight all those years at 160 and the jump straight to 175?

There was more money to be made at 160 and 175 plus well known names in America like De La Hoya, Trinidad and Tarver. Plus those two weights have a lot more history then super middle.

Benard had been scoping out the best oppertunities when he moved to 175. At the time he saw vulnerablity in Tarver (when others didn't), and a good payday.

We've always seen plenty of vulnerability in Tarver, but yeah, you're pretty much right.

He knew RJJ would come back to 168 and KO him, so he stayed in a division which he knew RJJ couldn't possible make the weight for

He didn't want Calzaghe simple as that......it really is, he agreed to fight him and then realised he couldnt win in Britain against him so he priced himself out.....you cant blame him....wouldnt you rather beat Tarver for more money?

Maybe because he was getting well paid and could defend his title at 160 until 2005? Why didn't Calzaghe fight at 175 lbs before - it's the same reason, he was defending his title at 168! Now, why did Hopkins rematch with Taylor in December 2005? Because the first fight was a close one and there was reason to see them again... And after that, the Tarver and Wright fights? Man, Calzaghe wanted Tarver ( post-fight interview after Lacy) and Wright ( talked about recently) so why wouldn't Hopkins get em? Hopkins never was obliged to fight Joe in Wales just because Warren and others felt that he was the right man for Calzaghe to beat - If they wanted Hopkins so much, they had to pay him well or no deal.

Better question: why doesn't Dawson campaign at 168? Is it because LHW is a stronger division? Or is it because the division is weaker and full of have-been NAMES he hopes to make a name for himself against?;)

“I’ll be honest,” Dawson said, “I’m not a true light heavyweight.
“I came into camp at 170 pounds. Right now, I’m at 175. I’m working hard and on April 12th, you are going to see nothing but muscle. In this fight, I will make a statement. If you notice, I get better and better with every fight. Glen is just the guy I need to bring the best out of me.”

...a recent article on the scene of boxing.

actually there was nobody at 168 before, so everyone was pretty much into 175 because the money is all there with jones, tarver, johnson. That is the reason. Same as 147 why do you think theres a lot of talent campaigning there. Same also as 130, because of pac, barrera, lots of talent. You get the picture.

Maybe noone in the US cared about the eurofighters at 168 a while ago? Like Beyer, Kessler, Ottke and Calzaghe...

Afaik only a few peps in the US gave a **** about those guys, before Lacy fought Calzaghe.

Why Hopkins didn't fought Lacy? Hmm ... because Taylor was the bigger hype that time, I think.
