Why didn't Briggs have a Tune up fight , even if just an Argie Cab driver ?

Can you imagine Andre Agassi making a return to tennis and going straight into a Wimbledon final against Nadal or Federer ? Wouldn't happen!

If Andre came back, he would have tune up tournaments etc

Why didn't Briggs have at least one tune up fight ? Didn't have to be a flash opponent and would have helped sell the fight by showing Briggs still has something to offer.

I'm not buying the PPV (and i do buy worthy PPVs), because i have no reason to believe Briggs will be even a tad competitive. I'm gonna just download the fight after

You still need to have something to offer to show that you still have somethng to offer. Everyone would see that Briggs is shot and that the fight is a mismatch.

Vitali came back after a 4 year injury lay off and smashed the number 2 ranked guy without a tune up fight.
Not to mention Vitali is a few years older than Briggs, and has had more fights.

There's no reason why Briggs can't beat Green if he is 100% healthy.

Because the tune up will show how shot he really is hence take the money in a one off fight and retire again.

Gee i was pissed last Saturday night, hope i didn't offend anyone :good

there is a reason that he used agassi and not serena williams in his example.

Vitali has a pretty good training partner who will be a tougher tune up than the vast majority of pro boxers out there. Serena could use venus!

Briggs hasnt had good training partners nor has he had a tune up!!!

I hope he goes well but to expect it is silly.

the only reason green gave him a shot was because briggs didn't have a warm up.

Healthy or otherwise, ring-rust is going to be Briggsy's biggest issue, and I suspect he's gonna be coated in it.

Would like to see Briggsy do well, but I reckon he's going to explode on Green from the first bell, and if he fails to stop Green quickly it's gonna be all downhill from thereon.

Don't know anything about tennis, so can't relate to the example, that's why I used Vitali.

I'm not sure what to expect, I'm just saying that it's not as unreasonable as many think for Briggs to pull this one off.

For some reason many are putting Green on some kind of pedestal, yet the way I see it, beating a shot to **** Jones and Siacca don't make him a Rocky Balboa.

Briggs doesn't even need to be 100% to hang in there with Green IMO.

This aint the equivalent to a Wimbledon final and Danny Green aint nowhere near the boxing equivalent of Nadal or Federer......

    Yeah, what they ^ said.

I hope we are all wrong though and Briggs reminds Green what it's like to fight real opponents

It wasn't that briggs was over the hill when he retired didn't he have a motor skills problem or a medical cond or the like. There is no way green is washed up,he's got plenty left, just playing his cars right IMO.
