You could say 'who' was Tatevosyan, a shot Joppy and a few of the other guys posing as a 'challenge'. It was more to do with it being a risk I suspect. Would have been a very good fight and likely more lucrative than any fight to date but they obviously didn't like the risk in it.
No he didn't. Pascal was just a nobody with a loud mouth. He struggled against limited opposition and couldn't sell tickets to save his life. His coming out party was the Froch fight. That's when his stock went up. Then he moved up to 175lbs. Nobody in Montreal was interested in that fight at the time.
Why are trying to tell us fight would have been huge? What do you know about the Montreal market and what people thought about both fighters at the time? Bute was a world champion idolized and loved by everyone. Pascal was prospect that talked a big game but couldn't back it up in the ring even against limited opposition. Pascal was NOT a draw and was NOT popular in Montreal. Only after his fight with Froch and Diaconu did Pascal start having somewhat of a fan base. Before that he was nothing. These are the facts.
that is pretty biased. Although Pascal was never as big a star as Bute he's always had alot of fans in Montreal. Also, like I said earlier he started 2 years later than Bute and has always been where Bute was 2 yers ago in terms of his development as a fighter and as a draw. If anything he was rushed to the forefront faster
People just don't get it. lol Bute fighting Pascal at the time would have been like Joe Calzaghe fighting Andre Ward back in 2008. Nobody wanted the fight and nobody cared. Bute's people didn't care about Pascal. Pascal people wanted nothing to do with Bute. The public didn't want to see Bute (the champion) fight Pascal (the guy who barely scrapped by Pittman and Norman). I don't know how much clearer I can make it for you. You guys are looking at the fight with today's perspective when the perspective was totally different at the time.
