He didn't even have the gas to keep up that pace for a full minute, what makes you think he could have done it for 12 rounds when Sergio was even fresher and harder to hit?
Errr maybe because he had nothing to lose. That's what usually happens in the 12th when you way behind. Martinez is a joker guy wouldn't dare hold even after getting knocked down.
He was asleep the whole fukin night. I dunno what was up with him. He was just letting Martinez get off all night with no response. He showed in spurts that he could control the action on the inside, but he wouldnt let his hands go. I have to guess its due to lack of experience and Martinez movement was throwin him off. But he really didnt give himself a chance in the fight until the 12th, and we all saw what happened there.
Martinez is a ****ing warrior is why he got knocked down. A legitimate middleweight slugged it out with a Light Heavyweight and managed to come back and punch Chavez Jr. to end the round. I'll give props to Chavez Jr. - he has a chin. He also didn't have a weight or speed advantage and managed to land a few good hits on Martinez. However, he is carrying 20% more firepower in his body EVERY SINGLE MATCH HE BOXES IN. He should try standing toe to toe with Froch at SMW.
JCC cant - cut off the ring - deal with lateral movement - work his way inside - throw his bs lunging body shots from the outside against a guy who can turn him and counterpunch in other words he's a complete bum
he didn't do that earlier because sergio kept him moving and didn't let him set his feet and punch, sergio went for the big finish and nearly paid for it
Chavez has always been a guy that prefers everything to be set up perfect, before letting his hands go. So when you got a guy like Martinez who constantly moves around, those opportunities are gonna' be limited. It was extremely frustrating to watch, because there were occasions where Martinez stayed in the pocket. For some reason only Chavez will know, he would ****ing wait 5 seconds before throwing anything. By then of course Martinez would be ready to move on and Chavez wouldn't get a chance like that until another couple of minutes. There was no sense of urgency from him.
Clearly because Martinez had more power and speed in his punches earlier to keep him thinking twice about getting reckless. That and Martinez' legs were clearly fresh early and constantly moved, Chavez was never able to settle and throw with Martinez using movement.
