wouldn't that have been better for him as they speak the same language?

Probably but I doubt Nacho would want to train a mediocre fighter like him. Plus, Nacho strikes me as a no nonsense type of guy and he prolly didnt like chavez' primadonna attitude.

Nacho takes a massive **** on Roach as a trainer though.

Roach is spreading himself too thin imo. He's training too many fighters.

no he's not, he has 5 main boxers, pac, khan, vanes, benavidez and now chavez and none of them have training camps at the same time

plus he has legendary trainer jesse reid working with him in the wild card.

you're right language is an issue. i noticed jr. is more comfortable communicating with ariza in the corner than with roach.

but i think jr. can adjust about it the longer they're together.

Benavidez' dad said that Roach can speak Spanish. If that's not really the case, Ariza can speak Spanish fluently without any weird accent. That's why Ariza's in the corner during the fight.

Somebody tell me if im wrong BUT Nacho doesn't seem to be an effective 'hired gun' type trainer. I think when he has them from a young age he can work wonders because his fighters have their own style. Roach seems to be more effective when you only have 6 weeks to train as he wont try and change up too much, but will make an effective game plan and Ariza will get you into excellent condition

I'd worry about that too, if I were one of his guys. Especially considering that he has a progressive disease that hinders him. His roster is just too full it looks.

roach trains 5 top fighters, very rarely do they have fights at the same time, therefore they are not in the gym at the same time.

plus like i said roach's right hand man is legendary trainer jesse reid.

So all it takes is speaking the same language and automatically the guy is a good fit for Chavez Jr.?

he took a step up in trainers. Nacho Berenstain was da man when mexicans were kings in their divisions. He's definitely ol' skool. Sometimes techniques could use some refreshing and updating. Roach is that.

It seems like a lot to me. Manny, Concepcion, Karmazin, Penalosa, Amir Khan, JCC Jr., Felix Sturm, Macklin, Benavidez, McEwan, Sidorenko...etc.

he doesn't train all the others, they use his gym, train under one of the assistance coaches, he sets the gameplans and works with them on the last 2 weeks.
