The same malcolm x who Ali and his cronies had a hand in assassinating yeah sounds like a great bloke u lot call me bitter and twisted but clay was racist bitter and twisted and yeah I'd call say it to his face he was not only racist to White people he was utterly disgustingly racist to 'proper' black folk such as Joe Frazier. If anyone had the most right to be bitter and angry at the American politics at the time it's Frazier not that middle class overrated brat and everyones up his arse like they are with che guevara

Harry Carpenter did that. It's not that there was anything wrong with people referring to him as Cassius Clay,in itself. It was the motives behind it. Some did it to be provocative, while others were simply used to calling him that.

Ali had left Nation of Islam after discovering that the acts of Elijah Muhammad were...inappropriate. He was also ignored by the NOI after they had discovered his boxing career was no longer a lucrative enterprise because his license was revoked due to draft dodging. Only did Herbert Muhammad come back when Ali was being paid big bucks. They only wanted him for his money. As for Malcolm X? He left because of Elijah Muhammad's acts. NOI forced Ali to make a choice, Malcolm or the NOI. Ali was pressured into the NOI because he was a young guy that didn't know a whole lot. I bet if Ali had the choice he'd try to save his friend. He looked up to Malcolm. He later was afraid of the power of the NOI because Malcolm wasn't there to protect him.

Alex. Get some facts. Read some books. You are spouting off conspiracy nonsense. You are disrespectful and you don't even have a correct answer in which to make such a statement.

Nope, wrong again. You barely even know the dates! You are horribly misinformed.

Ali left TEN years after Malcolm had been killed. Joined around 1964, Malcolm was killed 1964, left to become Sunni Muslim in 1975.

Your argument is flimsy. Just give it up. Nobody officially knows who killed Malcolm. You're words hold zero information. I wonder why you even bother to respond.

The NOI members that were caught and "involved" maintain their innocence, there is an argument that it was orchestrated by someone else using NOI. It sounds silly, but there's no official proof.

Continue that route sir. Stay a smug disrespectful poster. Enjoy the rest of your time on this board. You might want to bother to get a new name after everybody ignores you for trolling.

Frazier's other classic quote during the fight was: "god is going to whupped tonite" when Ali tried to psych out Joe during the heat of battle.

Ali should be called Ali; there's no need to debate it, and that's coming from a non-fan.

Ali's promise to crawl was just his usual hot air, said for dramatic effect, and I'm sure he thought he'd win the fight and wouldn't have to do it. No fighter ever would.

I think Ali truly got what he deserved that night, a long-overdue lesson in humility, and I think it's a shame how he tried to convince the world that he won a fight he obviously lost.

Just as an aside, its well documented that Frazier helped Ali out from time to time with money during his exile. A noble gesture indeed from Joe and fair play to him, good guy that he is. What i want to know is about the Manila fight and the side bet apparently struck up between the 2 parties. I have read on occasion that Ali's purse was $6million and Fraziers $2million, and both agreed privately to a $1million side bet for the winner. The story that ive read states that after the fight President Marcos brought up the subject of the wager, to which Ali responded along the lines of "Me and joe have fought each other over 41 rounds and 3 fights. Joe dont owe me nuthin". I have no proof of this no more than i have proof of joes giving money to Ali, but if true, it too is a great gesture and should be mentioned.

Does anyone have any information on the authenticity of this?
