Why didn't Cortez take a point from Khan at the end of the 6th?

Just like to know since he was so quick to take a point away from Maidana, why didn't he take away a point from Khan for that deliberate head butt at the end of round 6 because he definetly saw it and there is no arguin that it was accidental. Also Maidana was warned several times for rabit punching but Amir was never warned for exesive holding. I have to admit Amir showed heart but the more I watch that fight the more I think Maidana would have won had the ref been in his pocket.

    Khan was a clear winner.
If you think it was a one point fight your a huge hater.
I'm a hater and I know Khan deserved the clear win.

There was only a few points in it tbh. I think Khan still edges it 113-112 with this point deduction but that isn't the point. The fact is the reffering was unfair and Maidana may well have scored a KD or KO had Khan been warned about all of the running. I'll admit I can't bring myself to like Khan due to all the **** he's talked even though he's calmed down now (same with Froch), but I still feel I'm talking objectively. Watch the Maidana point deduction and then the Khan head butt and tell me how Maidana's offence is worse. Khan literaly throws 3 pitty pat punches and runs for 1:30 of round 11 and there is no warning. Also when Khan is holding him he litteraly pulls his arms down to get him off balance on several occaisions without being warned.

Actually he was warned many times for holding but the ref never took a point, which is BS, considering he took a point from Maidana for an elbow which didn't even connect, Cortez did a terrible job.

I did not really see Khan being warned, maybe I'm wrong. I just think he got away with that way too much but the intentional head butt was a clear deduction. In all fairness Maidana is a top 10 contender with a bad style for Khan but it still takes away from the win. I hope there is none of this when he fights Bradley because that could be a really good fight.

Point-wise, I had Khan winning even without the point deduction to Maidana. That said, Khan probably should have had a point deducted and Joe Cortez is a horrible, horrible ref.

Cortez does, and has for a long time, played favourites. I'm bent and I'm crooked.

I agree. But in this instance it wouldn't have changed the outcome.

Yes it would have, Kahn wouldn't have been able to continue to fight the way he did, he would've had to adjust.

Its Cortez, of course he ****ed up.

That being said, imo, I dont think it played a huge role in this fight. (not that it makes it any less wrong, just less relivent). I think Khan wins with a point deduction, and any other warnings or whatnot. And I have never heard warning a fighter for running eather, and Ive seen a lot more holding then he did in other fights, would be a bit unfair to khan if all of a sudden hes not allowed to clinch and hold on when in trouble or whatnot.

    just imo.

Still, Cortez is a bad ref, sick of seeing him in big fights, and Khan vs Maidana, was no exception.

    Cortez seriously sucks.
To put it plainly, he interferes with the action, slows down the pace of the fight, while mismanaging point deductions.
    Boo cortez

Cortez would not allow Hatton to fight on the inside with Void. Cortez took a point away from Hatton for accidently hitting a ring rope, no joke! Watch the fight!

The elbow doesn't need to connect for the person to be punished. The intent was there. And it wasn't as if he disguised it with a punch, he actually lashed with his elbow, missing Khan's face by a whisker. Khan's holding, on the other hand, is a minor offence which is committed regularly by nearly everyone.

Watch this video and start it at 30:30, Khan head butts Maidana and it is clearly deliberate and it is also clear that Cortez saw it.
