Why didn't Cortez take a point from Khan at the end of the 6th?

Cortez is a horrible ref, always has been.

It was disturbing to see him favouring the British fighter for once, he never does that.

True, I'm starting to think he has a deal with Golden Boy or something tbh.

Yeah I remember that when I watched it live. At the time I was thinking Amir has to be careful, but good on him, Maidana's the type of fighter who needs to be dealt with like that. But yeah, I wouldn't have complained if Ortiz deducted Khan a point there.

In all fairness it could have been stopped but it was a big fight and Khan made it to the end, which I didn't think he would do but he should have been made to fight more. There is cases where fighters have been DQ'd for running and/or holding too much. Watch the first half of rd 11, I think Khan should have been warned for the amount of running tbh.

This is ridiculous. Khan was hurt for crying out loud. He was in survival mode. He was also way up on the scorecards, and on the verge of winning. You can't warn, take a point or disqualify a fighter for trying to make it to the end of a fight.

Can someone make a gif of the headbutt? Because I really don't see what you're talking about from that video.

Though it could be the angle. Because all I see is him pushing Maidana away.

Also, if this is such a big issue, can someone please find a quote where Maidana confirms his himself ? (From the post-fight presser maybe?)

As for the Elbow, it did connect, but instead of connecting with Khan it connected with Cortez.

It is not about the win or lose, Cortez is being to know to protect the house fighter, doing everything in his hands to disrupt the other fighter, warning him for everything and anything, if the guy is an inside fighter he will not let him, he is sac of $hit.

If a fighter is not throwing punches for over a minute there needs to be a warning. If a fighter is clinching his opponent and forcing him off balance like Khan was at the end of that fight a point needs to be taken away. A fighter should not be allowed that much of a rest, they took away points Chico for time wasting vs. Castillo and this is hardly different. It all comes down to opinion really, of what you deem to be excesive but for me that was excesive and there should have been a penalty. Cortez steped in to break at times which favourd Khan as well. This reminded me a lot of AA vs. Miranda 1 although not quite as extreme. I have seen opponents get points taken for that much holding and it isn't boxing tbh.

Is at the 8 or 9 final seconds of the 6th round, also he was holding a lot and never warn.

They're up close, and Khan whilst pushing him away with his gloves, also pushes him with his head. It wasn't a straightup ****-back-and-launch-your-head type headbutt. But it was a cheeky nudge of a head in the middle of a push.

It's definitely not comparable to Maidana's elbow.

Casamayor vs freitas he was horrible, he took a point for hitting on the break but Freitas was the one that hit to the body first and the Knockdown was phantom one,

A draw?! What 6 rounds did you give to Maidana?

Oh wait, it's Jerome the hater.
