dude, I just totaly agree with all what you saying. but here you can see how bad his damn corner was. we are ****ing boxing fans and his trainer should be a boxing expert, yet we know more than him and right away saw that dawson was fraking dumb for simply not having his guard high. and never did his trainer said, keep it up or protect the right side :blood just terrible :!:
okay. I know what you mean and hell yeah it makes a difference when you feel a bit weak and not 100 % because your are in a weight you were 6 years ago and all of the sudden everything comes together. feeling weak, not having the same stanima and than get knocked down and feel mentaly stressed or simply down. thats it.
You all must have forgot that bad Chad called out Andre. Andre was the one putting it all on the line. Chad loses but he is still light heavy champion. From Emanual Stewarts comments about Chad's lapses of focus I knew Andre would win. He is a winner. Great heart and knows the sport of boxing. Plus he stepped up to fight the best of his time. I like Chad but the mental lapse was going to catch up. Plus I read that Dirrell beat Chad badly in sparring and Ward is better than Dirrell.
did you know chad was dumb and stupid and he made the biggest mistake of his life not by challenging ward, but by going down in weight he was in 6 years ago. which is a long time, considering how big he got.
Ward took away Froch's ability to punch effectively as well so you have to factor in that possibility.
If you need to understand all that Ward did to render Dawson ineffective, read this: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=428651 As you say, it makes no sense for Dawson to simply "not punch", and in the ring, it wasn't that simple. Whether he's weighing 170, 180, or 190 doesn't change the fact that Ward parried his jab forcefully downwards since round 1, circled to get lead foot positioning away from his straight left to set up his own offense, and feinted him before rushing forward to the point of Chad being purely on the defensive.
okay, put it this way. is bernard hopkins a defensive master? is bernard hopkins tough to fight because of his style? did dawson pressure the actions regardless of what X did? wouldnt a full energized light heavyweight king chad dawson pressure ward, would ward have stpped up to light heavyweight? isnt dawson the stronger puncher and couldve hurt ward? ahh you mean dawson was afriad of getting punched by ward, because ward hits so hard and accurate :huh didnt a bigger version physicly of ward (pascal) punch dawson repeatadly on the chin, the face and dawson still kept coming? you sure weight drained had nothing to do with what happened with dawson :-(
you right, ward is and was a technie master. no doubt. yet X was also a techicl master and dawson kept coming at him like posessed. look at cotto-mayweather. floyd is the best defender of our era and cotto bloodied him, how did he do it. pressure the action. no matter who tries to neutralize whatever, you can always throw punches in bunches with bad intentions and believe me dawson is powerful enough if he wants to to hurt any super middleweight in the world (maybe except glen johnson, but didn't he retire )
For the same reason Mosley didn't punch against Floyd. In both cases, they were in with a guy who made them reluctant due to speed, timing, reflexes, footwork, and upperbody/head movement. This made Chad (like Mosley) reluctant to use his best weapon. Both were getting tagged with shots they had no idea were incoming. That will make anyone gun-shy.
He was weight drained pure and simple. Those were some of the weirdest KD's i've ever seen in boxing. After rd 3 he was out of gas ( a sure sign of being drained ). His legs were moving like he was in cement.
for me, just NO. mosley was old, his body looked old, his mind was old. he clearly looked out. I am convinced a young mosley... This content is protected would have tried everything possible regardless of soomebody making it hard for him to fight pure. same for dawson, a prime dawson means business. that version of dawson was just a weak tall man, who didn't even try to double or just to throw a jab from time to time.
Very much agree, although i would have to say Dawson being drained definitely took from his legs. He looked very slow and weak in there last night.
exactly. he took much harder punches from pascal or tarver, who both much bigger than ward and dawson stood and took and didnt wobble. here one punch down. next time one punch down again. thats not normal :bart
