In the Sugar Ray Robinson autobiography, it was Robinson who introduced Drew (Bundini) Brown to a young Muhammad Ali.

Bundini seems to be just a clown, who did only entertaining/ fun (which was not funny), what was called motivation. But he had apparently no clue about physical training methods.

Locks and keys. Angelo Dundee didn't like or trust Bundini at all but Ali drew strength from him. Worth reading George Plimpton's "Shadow Box" for an insight into their relationship.

One of the most sickening sights in boxing.

Besides being parasitic it seemed Bundini literally lived his life vicariously through Ali and Ali’s achievements.

For Ali, the only positive, when appropriate, was that Bundini was his unconditional booster. A yes man without reserve for any due adaptions.

So basically, an externalisation of, and mirror to, Ali’s own ego.

Obviously he annoyed Ali at times also - to the point of Ali clouting him at the finish of at least two fights.

His vehement protests to Dundee stopping the Holmes fight showed he had nothing to offer otherwise and completely lacked a duty of care.

Unfortunately he mirrored Ali all the way to the end in terms of Ali’s own ego overshadowing any deference to his own long term health.

No, but I think he had a solid crew of people who got the job done. Think they going to let old boy mess it up for them? No way.

He was not the chief second for any of Ali's fights and had no say as to when Ali should retire .He wanted Ali to continue in that fight but the message from Herbert Muhammad to Dundee was " pull him out." Basically Bundini was just a cheerleader.
