I never understood why this fight never went down(was in elementary school at the time so the politics were above me) but it seems this matchup was viable at some point in time during the 90's. Would have been a big event on PPV and both guys would have made buckets of money so why not?

It probably would have happened if Tyson beat Douglas and Holyfield in '91 or if he beat Holyfield in 96. Foreman was considered a bit of a circus act in his comeback for a long time. Foreman also never really beat top10 ranked contenders to get his title shots and wasn't near earning 1 until Tyson had been deposed in 1990

I'm sure some will say 'Tyson was scared' but the reality is Big George was simple seen as high reward low risk big name for a champ/titlist to defend against

Foreman would **** ON FACE OF TYSON. HE DID BE COMPETENT WITH PRIME HOLYFIELD WHO DID BEAT TYSON. TYSON WAS SCARED OF BIG GEORGE FOREMAN. GEORGE WAS TOO BIG, STRONGEST FIGHTER xBY 10!, AND MIKE STYLE WAS MADE FOR FOREMAN. FOREMAN WAS ALSO MUCH HARDER HITTER BY 1000 TIMES AND PEOPLE WHO KNOW BOXING KNOW THIS. FOREMAN ALSO HAD BETTER CHIN, LONGER ARMS AND SEXIER BODY.

    Foreman KO2 Tyson

    Foremannnnn Ganchooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Matchmakers were wary of putting Foreman in with a fast, powerful fighter like Tyson, especially after the Alex Stewart fight where the cute, cuddly George was ****ed up so badly.

He wasn't seen as high risk low reward.

Tyson said he wanted no part of Foreman, so simply put Tyson backed out of the potential fight.

Mainly because of Don King & his contract options.

I recall a quote, in which George states he was more scared of signing a contract with King than fighting Tyson.

Because tyson was promoted by king....and foreman was promoted by arum...........bioth promoters were only talking **** /but it was only the promoters that wernt risking piting their own fighters with each other......but instead put tyson against tillman and foreman rodrigues on one card........then tyson/stewart and foreman/damiami on another......tyson/stewart came off but foerman damimai didnt so king used julio chavez jr on the tyson/stewart undercard.......it wasnt tyson skipping town over foreman....tyson fought a much more danderous 2 x in 3 months and 10 days in donovan razor ruddock.

Tyson would not have enhanced his credibility one iota by fighting George Foreman. George was knocking over tomato cans and screaming for a shot against Tyson. George wanted the fight because he wanted the payday that would have come with it. Tyson did the right thing by fighting Ruddock twice, who was a much better fighter than Foreman.

Someone on these boards cited a Tyson quote something to the effect that he was afraid of big George.

I don't believe it, but its been said.
