its always been a mystery to me why ali and frazier never rematched later in 71 or 72. i fancy ali big time i the rematch

history would of been different for sure if muhammad won. do you reckon he would of fought big george?

I think he would have fought George, I dont see Ali avoiding anybody thru fear of losing, it would bother him too much.

I believe Ali wanted an immediat rematch but Fraziers people smartly made him go thru a **** load of prove yourself type matches knowing how much of a danger Ali was to Joe`s title.

Id fancy Ali in the rematch, just like the 1st fight wih better legs & conditioning & no clowning on the ropes.... Ali would win a UD in a71 or 72 fight with Joe IMO.

The prescence of George Foreman, and the need for a build up the fight.Probably also, when Ali didn't kiss his feet in the first fight, Joe probably said "Screw it, make him wait".

Frazier won FOTC but got the **** punched out of him, Durham went for a couple of easy ones, and wanted Ali to get some of the steel hammered out of him in the meantime. It backfired big time, Joe got soft , Ali got in top shape and recovered a bit more of his stamina.
In short Frazier regressed ,Ali progressed.
