Why didn't Fury try to walk down Usyk?

Fury has been calling Usyk too small for years. If Usyk was too small then why didn't Fury try and walk him down? Fury chose to box off the backfoot against a significantly smaller man. I think Fury knew the judges were bribed. So he was going the Canelo route of just survive and get a BS decision. But he was so thoroughly beaten that not even corrupt judges could save him.

I don't think Fury had the confidence to walk Usyk down. He was too afraid of going on the attack and leaving himself open to counters. It's a lot easier to walk Wilder down than it is to walk Usyk down.

Because Usyk isn't too small. I have said it over and over again and some posters refuse to listen : virtually any man over 200 lbs who is well trained can knock out any man over 200 lbs who is well trained. Even if there is a 50 pound weight difference between them.

A 120 lb guy is unlikely to knock out a 170 lb guy. But a 210 lb guy can absolutely ko a 260 lb guy.

Once you get over 200 lbs, size doesn't matter as much. Fury knew he would struggle to pick up Usyk's straight left hand and he knew Usyk could throw his left with more accuracy and consistency than Wilder could throw his right hand.

Usyk isn't a feather fist. If Usyk was Chris Byrd in terms of power, Fury wouldn't have been as hesitant. But Fury knows Usyk can punch. Even in round 1, Usyk landed a jab followed by a hard left and you can tell it had an effect.

I am not sure if Lennox Lewis would have been able to walk down Usyk. Could he? Maybe. But the second he would run into straight lefts, he might have been knocked down and reluctant to move forward again.

Yeah, Fury was beaten mentally before the fight even began. He negated his own size in order to avoid getting an ass beating by the little man. Ironically, he got an ass beating regardless of what he brought to the fight, such is Uysk's greatness at adapting to different styles.

He would've been KO'ed pure and simple that's why when Joshua tried be aggressive vs Usyk in 2nd fight it was still educated pressure focusing alot on defense.

Usyk is not a huge puncher but he can hurt you hes an accurate puncher a very good counter puncher and both of those attributes are deadly.

Because Usyk was walking him down.
Usyk's skill and speed surpass his by a wide margin.

Exactly what his corner was telling him. Just survive you are winning on the scorecards.
Usyk has to dominate 10-2-1 or 9-3 at worst, to get a SD win.
    Absolutely pathetic.

Yes, I agree. Fury is big, but he's not superman, he's made of flesh and bones. And Usyk is strong enough to knock out anyone.

Usyk’s inside game is too cold
Too many angles hands are too fast
Fury shot his best shot to win & lost
No shame … Usyk is just that great.

Because he's more comfortable boxing off the back foot. He's always done it.

Lol because Usyk didn't let him. He had an answer for everything which Fury learnt the hard way.

Fury has always been boxing safe from a distance -armpunching kind of guy: it's just not his game to exchange inside

He could not walk Usyk down because he does not have the physical or mental strength to do that.

Because he would have been on his back sooner than round 9 if he tried. Not sure a 16 second count was available to him that night as opposed to the Wilder 1 fight, so took less risk.
