Why didn't GGG think of fighting Kovalev, or something similar?

Conceivably he still could because he still hits very hard and Clenelo's gargantuan ginger melon is a very inviting target. However, he's declined physically and he's just not hitting with the same savage force as he was in his prime

He didn't really hurt or drop Yarde at any point in the fight prior to the finishing punch and that was more due to Yarde being worn down gradually and fatigued

He didn't drop or really hurt Alvarez in either of their fights

He didn't drop or really hurt Mikhalkin before the ringside doctor waved it off

He didn't drop Ward in the rematch whereas in their first encounter he wobbled him down to his soul with a jab and dropped him hard on his hands and knees in a praying position. In fact, he hit him so hard Dre thought it was the first time he'd been down in his career and he totally forgot about the ''Darnell [Boone] experience'' a fight in which he also suffered amnesia after getting dropped because he still to this day can't remember the final 2 rounds of the fight. Kov cracked him so hard that he couldn't remember the KD ''he absolutely remembers'' lol

The Shabranskyy fight is the only fight in recent years where Kov looked close to being as destructive as he did back during his prime

No way in hell the backs of Yarde, Alvarez, and Mikhalkin don't touch the canvas against prime Krusher from legit power punches and nor do those fighters make it to the final bell or last as long as they did either.

Best believe that Team Clenelo have noted that in Kov's last six fights he's only dropped 1 of his opponents, well 2 if you count Yarde but as said that was more a case of attrition than anything.

Golovkin tried to fight Ward and actually fought Canelo, twice:

"At our meeting with HBO they asked us whether we are ready to box. You know our answers - I said yes, you said no. You said something about your shoulder or promoter - I'm not interested in the reason, I only heard your "no." But you remember that HBO said then that they would need a long time to build-up the fight. Then what the **** are you talking about excuses?""

Golovkin vs Derevyanchenko: Gennadiy Golovkin 'has every reason to believe' he beat Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez twice. Lou DiBella: "Anybody who knows anything about boxing knows that, at worst, when Canelo and GGG met it was 1-1"

Just another day in the empty mind of Dino, folks.

Except for Usyk vs Gassiev and Povetkin vs Klitschko, the other ones are not that good. Plus it took forever for those fights to be made. It is just too hard to negotiate

Still brooding over the Canelo loss. Needs to get over it and move on, if it was just one fight I could understand that but GGG had TWO chances to prove he was the better fighter and failed. He wasn't robbed, both fights were close and could of gone either way, after the first fight GGG should have known that he'd have to win clearly to get a decision but instead spent 12 rounds plodding round the ring throwing single shots and taking no risks, only got himself to blame.

Possible silver lining to Canelo fighting Alvarez is perhaps GGG will come back to the UK and fight Callum Smith then he can prove he's the greatest, most dangerous MW since Hagler. LOL.

Correct, there was talk of splitting the weight and the purse down the middle. Ward was not happy with 164 and I suspect GGG wasn't happy with only 50% of the purse since he's the draw. Later on Golovkin caved on the weight and agreed to 168. Ward still wasn't interested.

If ggg has the quote 1 punch power? Why not fight canelo still at vegas? Heres the thing you biased ggg supporters ignored that ppl talk about oscar pay the judges to make sure ggg doesn't get the decision win but yet this is the same oscar delahoya when he was a fighter couldn't pay the judges to give him a decision wins over Trinidad? Mosley rematch? And vs mayweather when in that year in 2007 mayweather wasn't a big draw yet?

Ggg never cave in to fight ward at 168 pounds. Ggg only wanted either froch or chavez jr at 168 pounds but not vs Ward. Ggg was a chicken.

Great post. Ward is a liar and his fans are delusional. He’s a guy who needed to fight dirty to beat a faded Kov in the second fight. Dre straight lost the first one, IMO.

GGG never feared the feather fisted Ward. Ward had limited commercial appeal and I’m certain GGG wasn’t going to take the crap deal Kov took. In fairness, Ward was a better fighter than he is a fight analyst. He’s unwatchable as an analyst.

This was Ward's reply to Golovkin's camp floating the idea of a 168 clash with GGG:

"Andre Ward (31-0, 15 KOs) has ruled out entirely him moving back down to 168 to fight unbeaten Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) after he moves up to super middleweight. Ward says that it’s too hard to move back down in weight. He doesn’t want to put himself in that position where he has to lose weight to go back to his old division. However, Ward is still open to fighting Golovkin if he’s willing to move up to 175 to fight him."

Typical Canelo fan! Defends the bad decisions (especially the first fight), defends Canelo’s choice of a faded opponent-Kov, and wants a guy pushing 38 years old to fight a prime challenger in his backyard to prove himself!

Marvin Hagler we past prime and retired at 33 years old. GGG is 37 years old and still expected to be prime. I thought Hagler deserved the decision versus SRL but that fight was closer than GGG-Canelo 1.
