Why didn't GGG think of fighting Kovalev, or something similar?

Oscar run the last 3 rounds which there's no way Trinidad won 7 rounds. Anybody that really knows how to score a fight wouldn't give Trinidad 7 rounds.

And let's say you're right about the reason Trinidad got the decision win? Still if oscar pays the judges as you say for canelo fights? Why he didn't when he was a fighter vs Trinidad, mosley rematch and mayweathet fight which all 3 of those fights were in......vegas? Lol

If a fighter does not want to move up in weight, it is not a crime. Sometimes moving up can be a hindrance to a career. It all depends on things like height, and if a fighter is having trouble maintaining his current weight limit. If he is doing it only to please the fans and sports writers, it could prove to be a recipe for failure. Some fighters are perfectly happy with their current weight, and they could be champions and legends. Examples that come to mind are, Sugar Ray Robinson's June 25 1952 fight for Joey Maxim's World Light Heavy weight title , true, he wilted because of the heat, Robinson could not answer the bell for round 13, that night in New York. Jose Napoles, a great World welterweight champion was stopped by World middleweight champion Carlos Monzon, on Feb 9 1974, in Paris, France. Great Light Heavywight champion Bob Foster was knocked out cold by World heavyweight champion Joe Frazier, on Nov 18 1970, in 2 rounds in Detroit Michigan. There have been some success stories. Sometimes if it is not broken, don't try to fix it, as the saying goes. Greed sometimes is not worth spoiling success. People do not remember your bank account, only the legacy that you leave. Golovkin is a good middleweight,

It might help to know what that offer was before GGG dismissed it outright. This might suggest it was a ridiculous lowball.

What is known is that the initial offer (which again, was turned down flat without opening negotiations) from Ward, was a 50 50 split, with each guy having one lead in fight and then meet in the first part of 2016. Apparently, Golovkin/K2 said no, with no counter offers, in about 36 minutes.

"“Andre talked about all that after we had signed the fight against Lemieux. He had been offered many things before that, and never came out and said he wanted the fight. But once we signed the fight against Lemieux, and you can go back and look at the records, go back and look at the records. The fight against Lemieux was already signed and talked about, and then he comes out and says that. The guy just doesn’t want to fight”."

I kinda always see the same things every time this subject comes up. Most people dont even know Ward sent a contract and G turned it down. What also isnt known is that the contract they sent would allow Golovkin to continue with the Lemieux fight, it would have just ensured that he had to fight Ward after Lem.

I have seen multiple responses by Tom about this offer. Almost all his responses involve that Golovkin is no longer interested in leaving middleweight unless it was against Jr and Froch, because they are gunning for the Canelo Cotto winner. He also says in other responses that Golovkin is a bigger draw, alluding to the idea that he wouldnt accept 50/50.

Anyways, however its sliced, turning a fight down flat, without negotiating, for a fight as big as the Ward fight would have been, and that they could go ahead with the Lem fight as planned, pretty much speaks for itself, imo.

Sounds like Ward wanted Golovkin to go up to 168 and then come back down for his big bucks fights at middleweight. As Ward has strenuously pointed out, going up and then coming down is crazy ;)

Exactly this, and its quite obvious to me. Chavez and Froch are both huge draws, arguably bigger than Golovkin. The fight sells itself. Ward on the other hand couldn't draw flies to a cesspool and it would be GGG doing the heavy lifting in terms of bringing in the money. Ward has to be completely deluded if he thinks he's going to command 50% of the purse particularly given his boring, negative style that would make GGG look bad even if he won.

There's a reason Pimp never got back to me on Golovkin offering Floyd a fight at 160 and demanding half the purse, because he knows darn well that that hypothetical is directly analagous to Ward's demands. Floyd would have pissed his pants laughing if Golovkin ever sent such an offer and rolled himself another stogie in a 100 $ bill, while chuckling and shaking his head. If GGG ever wanted to fight Floyd he'd have to go to 154 (or lower, if the Canelo fight is anything to judge by) and we all know damn well he was never going to get 50% of the purse even at the lower weight. But diva Ward wanted that from Golovkin.

    1) Counteroffering 164 and 50% of the purse IS negotiating
    2) The fight is NOT a big fight. Maybe to you and I, who know that Ward is a high quality fighter. But most people hardly even know him
    3) Unfortunately by that time the window for the Ward fight had probably closed. Why on earth would you fight a huge 168 fighter who you have to pay in to fight, when you have Cotto and Canelo in the sidelines who are your own weightclass and bring in a waterfall of money? Beat those two and there's instant brand value amongst their massive fan base. Beat Ward and some guys in Oakland know about it. It's really just common sense. If I was Loeffler I'd have offered Ward 25% of the purse and he'd be lucky to get that.

I would like to think it all comes down to what a fighter believes will have a more lasting effect on his/her legacy. Staying at a certain weight and dominating for years, making the effort to become undisputed or holding titles in more different weight classes.
But there’s so many different variables.

I don't want to hear this ****. When Ward called GGG out GGG and his fans were full of excuses here saying who's ward? GGG is a MW Ward isn't a draw Ward is boring Tell Ward to fight Kovalev. They made every excuse in the book as to why GGG shouldn't fight Ward it was embarrassing. Those are facts. GGG only started to talk about Ward when he knew that Ward was going to 175. When Ward called him out he was full of excuses and his fans didn't want the fight either because they knew GGG would get that work.

Those are facts. I was here when this stuff took place. You're trying to re-write history because you don't like it.
