He was Middleweight king for many years and beat all the best top contenders and rising stars, why didn't he ever give light heavy etc a crack?

Michael spinks was the king at 175,and the other guys were very good quality as well. I think hagler was too small and not equipped to deal with these bigger guys. Some fighters can move up well, others cant or wont. Hagler also seemed to be a perfectionist and was at his best physically at 160. I dont think, however,it takes away from him as an atg 160 man,but does p4p....

Because he was only like 5'7 - 5'8 in HT.
(I defo don't belive he was anything 5'9 or above, IMO)
(And He didn't have a Dwight Muhammad Qawi type of body to get away with it at the higher weight division's)

Plus why break it, If it ain't broken....
He was the best in the business for his body type & weightclass.

I don't think he would have beaten Spinks, Dwight Muhammad Qawi, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad or Matthew Saad Muhammad. Plus when he was asked didn't he mention that Spinks was really a heavy fighting at light heavy he probably knew the guys were too big.

Also, great fights kept coming up. No need to move up in weight if you got Duran, Lenoard and Hearns coming up from below.

could of had a comeback at super middle maybe but he was clearly not a big guy. big in stature but noit in hieght as someone already said he was barely scraping 5'9. i saw a scene when hearns was asking very politly for hagler to come to super middle. hearns-hagler 2 would of been a promotors dream.

anyone think he could of mage 154? he made a few fights very light against a few peeps in his champ reign

light heavy is out of the qustion for him i feel.

The middleweiht title has always been the most prestegious division outside the heavyweight division. The lightheavyweight class was known as orphan of the storm. That means no one really cared about it so he'd rather stay in his own division

i like the fact that he stayed at his true weightclass and was the true champion...

and was not one of these guys that jump weightclass to weightclass looking for the weakest beltholder to pick on lol

and then call themselfs 5 time world champ lol

Hagler was 5' 9" and his natural weight class was 160lbs or just a little bit under it when he stepped onto the scales. Not 147lbs. And Hagler wasn't built like a tank. He was a natural middleweight, but not a massive one. Someone like Jermain Taylor I'd term as a massive middleweight.

you got to admit that he is a big strogn middlewieght. yes jermain taylor was a pretty tall and has a good physique but hagler had huge shoulders and solid thighs. 2 parts of the body that take up the most of the wieght.

he could of easily gone up in wieght. it wasnt like winky wright who is a decent sized middlewieght but still has a layer fat at light middle.

look how an older albiet hagler is way smaller than a strong lean hopkins yet both were well fitted 160 pounders.

Hagler was a natural middleweight. However he wasn't built like a 'tank' or a massive middleweight.

He was a perfecty strong physical specimen for the division.
